How Long Will It Take My Mom Only Takes Sips

\My mom is dying of Pancreatic cancer stage iv They say it is all over. I don't uderstand why she is not in pain. She weighs about 84 lbs. She only takes sips of ensure . She sleeps most of the day and is pretty lucid during the waking minutes. Can anyone give me an idea who has gone through this before how much more time we have. Thanks Pat

So sorry to hear about your mother. How long ago was she diagnosed? My sister was just diag. and she also has no pain, yet, the last Dr. told her 3-6 months. My sister is still eating fine. They put a stint in her bile duct and now the jaundice is going away.
I don't know what to expect. Did your mother get too weak to eat? Did she get jaundice? Did she take chemo or radiation or clinical trials? I hope my sister does not get any pain. I continue to search for ways to help her. Please let me know how your mother is doing. I will pray for her.

My mother is in the last week or 10 days of her life. She no longer eats and drinks only very little fluids. I am thankful that she is on meds that keep her from experiencing the final stages of this bloody cancer!! We are around her 24 hours a day. It is not easy, but I would do this 24/7 for her.

How did you know your mom had ten days remaining?  What were her symptoms?

My mom started hospice care two weeks ago.  She vomits a couple of times per day, almost daily.  She has A LOT of pain but morphine sulfate and hydromorphine for breakthrough pain seems to be helping.  My mom eats next to nothing and finds it difficult to swallow.  She stills talks positively saying she's going to beat this and plans family vacations and is helping, when awake, to plan my brother's upcoming wedding.  My mother is VERY weak, and rarely gets out of bed now.  When she does get out of bed, 20 to 30 mins is as long as she can bear.

I just want to know if her time is very near or if we still have a couple of months.  Please give some insight...anyone.
