My question is , if this trial will work for him, does it worth all these troubles ? Can anyone give me some specific results ,after using this medicine.

The rash is apparently sign that it is working. Yes, it does work! It can stabilize and reverse cancer growth. Good luck!

My Mom had oral cancer that spread to a tumor in her head. Chemo did not work so they put her on Tarceva. It had an amazing affect on her. It really lifted her spirits too and we laughed about the acne/rash. She had been wearing an eye patch b/c the tumor was affecting her eye sight. After about 2 weeks of Tarceva she stopped wearing the eye patch. I consider Tarceva a gift from God to her and our family. Unfortunately my Mom was very ill and had been on a stomach feeding tube and her nutrition and overall health had already declined. She died from heart failure. I personally highly recommend Tarceva! It should be well worth the side-effects.

Yes, Tarceva works. I am glad to share this news with someone. I am in my 30's and have been on Tarceva since February for my Stage IV lung cancer. The Tarceva is fighting back the cancer and my last CT scan revealed that the cancer is barely detectable it has shrunk so much. Any other success stories about Tarceva and how long the medicine will keep working? I have heard that Tarceva works, but the results may be reversible as the cancer becomes resistent to it.

I have taken 36 Tarceva Tablets and my rash is now much better. I used a natural cream to ease the soreness and a natural cleanser several times each day. My Oncologist said that a rash was a good indicator that the drug was working and this does give you a boost. I will have a CT Scan after taking the drug for 3 months to see if I have been responsive to it. The side effects of Tarceva are very much better than with Chemotherapy - hair loss etc. and the fact that you take the tablet at home and do not have to spend hours in the hospital is a wonderful bonus. As with any drug you are either receptive to it or not. Chemotherapy did not shrink my tumours but it perhaps stabilised the growth over a period of about 2 years. I have lived with Cancer for 5 years and I have been very fortunate to have had a good quality of life throughout this time. I have a lot of interests and I am able to do voluntary work. I also have a loving family and good friends which all helps to create a positive environment. Jenny

Tarceva Side Effects

The typical side effects of Tarceva are the upper body rash, fatigue and diarrhea. I have experienced all to some degree. The rash was the worst right after starting Tarceva. Now it doesn't bother me at all. My doctor prescribed Clindamycin, a topical lotion and it seems to work. Initially another doctor had prescribed Minocycline, an oral drug. That worked, too, but I prefer the topical lotion instead of having more drugs in my body. I also am very tired and need to nap for about 2-3 hours every afternoon. I have also experienced the cramping in my feet that another person mentioned in a message. I take Xango juice daily. It has the juice of the mangosteen fruit, which is known for it's antioxidant and healing properties. Overall, life is good and I'm enjoying every moment. I hope your side effects subside, your tumor shrinks and you have a wonderful summer.

Hi Tina I'm so glad to hear that you've had success with Tarceva! Did you try any chemos or were you unresponsive to anything else before you started the Tarceva? My husband is 31 and is battling stage IV as well. He's been on Tarcevea for about 4-5 weeks now. He'll be having scans again on Monday/Tuesday to check his progress. He has had the rash, which I undersand can be a sign it's "working", but it's only been on his neck, chest and back...how bad was yours? His hasn't seemed to be painful...I'm just hoping that the severity of the rash isn't an indicator of how well it's working. If nothing else, I'm just thankful to have read your message and to know there's someone else out there as young as my husband that can relate. Thank you for your message. I wish you all the best as you move forward. Julie
