Dear friends with low platlet counts, have your doctors prescribed Nulasta? After my husband's count got so low that he could hardly walk, the doctor prescribed Nulaska injections once every 3 weeks. An injection takes about 40 minutes for it must be done slowly. It made all the difference in the world for my husband. Pl see my many posts. I have extensive liver mets in both lobes of liver, finished 9 rounds of FOLFOX and erbitux. Have aggressively sought what next for me, finally it is a two stage liver resection. Since you are in Bangalore , I believe the best surgeon to seek advise is dr Mohammed rela at global hospital, hyderabad. Resection depends on number of mets to liver, location and sizes. I am based in Mumbai. Currently seeking advise of dr arvinder soin at medanta medicity in Delhi. I hope this helps Shitul

I was diagnosed with Colon cancer (in the sigmoid) that metastasised to the Liver (stage 4) in June 2011.  Went through 12 chemo treatments and numerous CT and PET scans here and at UCLA. Was able to have the surgery for both at the same place by 2 sets of specialists.  Other than having Neuropathy in both hands and feet and 'chemo brain', I think im doing well. I was on the FU5 and Folfox along with other drugs I cant remember at this moment. My hair has started growing in and I am gaining some weight.. I was told that the liver will start to grow back but they havent told me what it is now or what the size was when the had to do the surgery.  The liver tumor was larger than they anticipated.  Just waiting for the day to come when I realize that my hands and feet are 'better' and there is a difference in the size of the liver. Its been 5 months since surgery.

I am starting years 3 Colon,  Liver, Lungs, Some abdominal maybe, and I intend to be a statistic breaker! Finally getting the Avastin that should have been introduced 3 mos. after surgury. On third set of chemo traditional only, FOFOX, FOFURI, NOW IRINOTECAN AND AVASTIN.  The first was working my CEA's to a 4 last year then the shortage lost me 2-3 boosters to go with the 46 hr pump. Then it started rising, the 2nd. batch did nada. 3rd. started bringing it down, ABSORBIC ACID High Doses IV showed a 140 point drop in CEA's  after only a 20 somethinmg occurred. I wish I was getting more options, MAKE SURE YOUR ASKING FOR ALL OF THEM, AND NOT BEING TOLD ONLY WHAT INSURANCE PAYS FOR.  Our Doc and Staff Do Not know everything I have found out.  You should too!
It's not gone yet but IT WILL BE, and I am living life like without cancer (except dietary choices 98% not good enough ) They did not hink I would be here still.  I am blessed with this and hope you are too. Nutrtrition is the key to living well better, and helping chemo work but not on you. Not dying from the cancer is the goal.
BE A STATISTIC BREAKER, AND LIVE LONG-ER.

Dear Jengen12, Please detail your mom's Dx as my 46 year old wife has innumerable mets to lung as well as mets to liver. Started chemotherapy last week but seems at this point resection is not an option and just trying to buy time. Please share hopefulness. Thank you.
