RE: Outlook on Life

It's scary to see all the stories, I stayed away from them when I was sick but I know my sister didn't and it made her nuts. You have to just believe he can get through this, that there isn't another option.
No I did not need the bmt, and I thank God! If he doesn't need it then why would he want to have it? I can't speak for anyone else but they told me I didn't need it so I didn't push for it. They told me if I get the AML back I probably would need the bmt then, but I don't plan on getting it back. I hope your dad stays strong and never gives up.
Hang in there,

RE: Outlook on Life

Thank you so much. It is so much easier to read real life stories than scary statistics. I am happy for you. This really puts a whole new perspective on life. The things that were once so important seem so insignificant now.
Question: Did you have to have the BMT? My dad is pushing them to go ahead and do one, but they say it is not needed.

I can only speak for myself. It was 5/6 a year ago when I went into the hospital with AML. I'm doing well and it is true that many due survive and make a full recovery. You have to have faith and believe and never give up. But it is true there are many that have survived many many years after treatment.

Outlook on Life

My mom -only 50- was just diagnosed with AML. The doctors are telling us they expect a full recovery but that does not correlated with anything that I have read. I have heard of so many people suffering and so many relapses. It almost seems iinevitable. I am not sure what I looking for - I guess just some comfort. I am tired for reading articles and want to hear real life stories from young adults who have been throught this. Thank you
