Has anyone tried adding organic virgin coconut oil to their diet? Was it helpful?  I hear it helps decrease the occurence of infection in those with lowered immunities.

Hi.

Yes I give my wife organic coconut oil, and flaxseed oil, and virgin olive oil, it not only stopped infections but also turned round her cachexia.

Virgin Coconut Oil is a nutritional and 'medicinal' powerhouse. There are very few things that can reverse cachexia, this oil being one of them

It's gotten a very undeserved reputation for being an unhealthy food, the last 30 yrs, but the truth and facts are starting to get out that consuming coconuts and their oil is extremely beneficial for the human body, namely for the MCT's and lauric acid

In the Philippines, where coconut has been a large part of their diet for centuries, the coconut tree is commonly called the "Tree of Life"

I have pancreatic cancer (since 1998) and my oncologist told me that coconut oil does not require pancreatic enzymes to digest it because it is a medium chain triglyceride vs. a long-chain triglyceride.  Most oils in the Western diet, including olive oil, are composed of long-chain triglycerides, which I can't digest.  So I use organic virgin coconut oil almost exclusively for this reason.  I was concerned that it would create artherosclerosis, but to the contrary, my lipid profile has improved since using it. But I am not aware of any scientific studies that substantiate the claims regarding decreasing infection for those with lowered immunity.

I require pureed food as a result of the tumor and treatment effects, and use coconut oil in most of my soup creations.

I read online about the ketogenic diet. I believe this diet uses coconut oil and some how they have tools to mesure ketons.  Very interesting. Looks like the kind of diet that can be compatible with the alkaline diet too.

I have been on RKD (Restricted Ketogenic Diet) for a year now and I take about 9 tablespoons of organic coconut oil every day. Believe it or not it is breast milk that contains hefty amounts of lauric acid just like coconut oil! This must signal something very important about lauric acid and its many benefits. Babies get this lauric acid when born direct from the mother's breast milk and it has a strong anti-bacterial function. The high amount of MCT's in the coconut oil is also great for easy keytone production in the liver.

I looked at several oils for my mother. I believe coconut might be the better one. Avocado and olive are high on vitamin E. I was on the news this week that vitamin e protects cancer cells.   Also grapeseed has a bad ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 since it is mostly omega 6.
