has anyone taken the new drug Zytigma??

If anyone out there has taking the new drug for advanced stage prostrate cancer can you let me know how its working for you?

After 6 months of waiting to get our hands on the new FDA approved drug Zytiga, we finally did.  Long story but Tues., 6/21 my husband took his first dose.  He takes 4, 250mg, pills each morning along with Prednisone.  Today is day 6 and he is having major body aches, flu-like symptoms, which we understand is a side effect.  We will go to oncologist on Thursday for blood work to check liver, psa, etc. and maybe get an idea of how this new drug is effecting him.  Obviously, we haven't been on it long enough to give you very much insight but pills verses chemical chemo is a big plus.  He handled all the chemos extremely well so we expected this one to be well tolerated but so far it's not letting him feel very good.  We, too, would love to hear from anyone else presently taking this drug.

Hi Hope4him I hope he dos well I have advance prostrate cancer I also use to have prostrate cancer bone mets but my doctor said test shown Im in remishion as I have no cancer in my body now.  I dont know why the hype  about Zytigma to me is just an other anty sex hormone drug (AD HT ) that stops our  body producing testosterone. And having major body aches, flu-like symptoms, I feel is just a sign of testosterone deprivation From what I have read over the years I have had prostrate cancer.  All these AD HT drugs do is, just treat the systems of prostrate cancer,  but it to me like they dont stop  the cause of the cancer as they do not stop or kill prostrate cancer cells . And from what I have read  with no tertoserone to feed the cancer it will just go in to a dorment state waiting for more testosterone to come a long. chemo works on older cancers and all though Chemo wont work on Prostrate cancer as it only works on rapidly deviding cells and prostrate cancer is a slow growing cancer but I know over time that the  prostrate cancer change to a more agresive cancer that has rapidly deviding cells chemo will work well on these type of cancer    

I don't know any one taking Zytigma but my husband is on a new medication referred to XL-184. He takes two 50 mg capsules daily. After the third week the drug, he is presenting symptoms which include elevated blood pressure, sore, blistered feet, and some nausea. His pain has elevated slightly but we are hopeful it is due to the drug attacking his tumors. We will know in 3 weeks if the drug is performing effectively on shrinking his tumors. I will ask his research team and urologist/oncologist at Duke if he has any information on the new drug Zytigma. If any one is out there taking XL-184 please let us know how you are doing.

My husband has been on Zytigma for 6 weeks and it has brought his PSA down from 136 to 37.6 and he feels so much better than it is amazing. Hang in there. My husband takes the same dosage with pednizone and we started him on immunopower 4.0 supplements at the same time. Between the two of them, we feel like we've received a miracle.

why would you want to use Zytigma it's just an other HT drug that works by decreasing the production of testosterone. It dos nothing to stop or kill off any of the cancer cells, or assess what caurse the prostrate cancer in the first place.
