Completed 35 rounds of radiation nov 2010 and am well into recovery.   Since my thyroid got fried I have been taking synthoid meds for it.  Talk about rocket fuel!!!!!!  Nerves and freekin out big time.  To me, this should be a big item on the Head and Neck board but, not much is said.   Anyway, I am still into the adjustment period for dosage.   Slowlane

Been there done that! Watch your heart, my doctor told me this week my thyroid levels still aren't right but he said he's afraid to up my medicine because it causes your heart to race, but you are so right about the energy, I thought my energy was low because of the treatment but it turns out the thyroid was not working, boy am I glad I found out because your right I feel 100% better now, but only the family doctor thought to check for that, noone else did and I think they should tell you these things! He said you can have all kinds of medical problems when your tyroid doesn't work....

I suffered for 5 years with ear pressure and neck pain, ENT thought I was crazy, my back doctor found a tumor in my thyroid, ENT removed 1/2, not cancer, then 5 months later tumor popped up on my left side of my neck right under the chin and ENT removed it surgical and it was Lymphoma!!! He said he was sorry to my family because I had cancer, I was going to a local cancer center BCC and they had me on the watch and wait from Dec till June, I had two more tumors pop up and I got scared, I was going to them every three months, they told me to be prepared for CHOP chem in Sept I didn't want to wait three more months so I drove from Kentucky to Texas and got a 2nd opinion at MD Anderson, yep I needed treatment!! I had 20 treatments to the neck of radiation only at Vanderbilt in Nashville, they agreed since it was only stage 1 stage 2 I could transfer closer to home, had it been stage 3 or 4 he would have made me stay there, but needless to say the radation killed the other 1/2 of my throid and yes I am taking Levothyroxine.....
