Hi everyone,

My father is 75 years old and was first dignosed with colorectal cancer after his 2nd surgery to attempt to reverse his colostomy. Unfortunately, the surgeon could not reverse his colostomy due to the reason that he found the tumor at the very bottom of his rectum. It was found that the cancer had already spread to the distant organs. He then went through chemo in 3/05 and finished in 8/05. At that time, CEA was 1.8 and then to 5.4 back in 2/06 and then to 22.1 in 3/06. PET/CT reviewed that his cancer came back around his rectal pouch and intestine area. The worst thing is that he got intestine adhesion very frequent as there is tumor down at that location. He is taking herb to minimize the side effect of chemo. So far, he has to go to the emergency like everyweek. He used to go every month, the freqency is getting higher. His other issue is the problem with his stomach ulcer that also caused a lot of issues.

Does anyone out there has the problem with intestine obstruction or adhesion? I would appreciate some advice to minimize his frequency of going to the hosipital.

Thanks

Alfred

Sorry, I forgot to mention that my father has the surgury to remove partial of his rectum. Since then, he has to push the mucus out or else he will have a lot of back pain. Once the mucus is out (clear and yellowish color), then his back will feel a lot relief and less pain. During chemo, he did not have the problem with the mucus issue. Not until his cancer came back in Feb 05, he then started to have this pain.

Any input will be appreciated.

Alfred
