The plan will depend on the type of tumor you have ... if its malignant or benign...if its spread or is localized...if its primary or secondary...There are a lot of "ifs" in the beginning but hang in there and have faith in God and in your doctors. I had a scare about 15 years ago when I had an ultrasound and they found 4 masses on my liver. I had to wait another week and a half to get in for more testing. I was very young and had small children at the time. That week and a half seemed like an eternity. I was sure that I had cancerous liver tumors... which I was told it could be. Come to find out they were hemangioma (vascular) tumors that are totally benign. When I got that diagnosis I felt like I was reborn and given a second chance at life. I'm praying that your tumor is benign too. Keeping you close to my heart and in my prayers.

Hugs and hope

Hello Ardell,

Well the answer to your quest is pretty simple at this stage of the situation.

You answered your own question.

What's next the results of the biopsy.

There are many options and choices ahead you.

They always talk about chemo and/or radiation.

Again, this is very early in this cancer issue...you need much information before you can go to the next step.

By the way, there will many, many next steps when battling liver cancer.

Did they happen to say anything about a liver transplant.

How old are you?

Keep in touch...take care

Hello Ardell,

Thank you for your friendship.

My wife did not have liver cancer. She had Bile Duct Cancer.

Her tumor was not in the liver but just below the liver in the right and left hepatic duct.

They did surgery and remover 2/3 of her liver.

I am aware of live cancer though, but not directly involved.

Bile duct cance is very similar. But liver cancer gotten soon enough is not as bad as Bile Duct Cancer.

I  need to attend a meeting shortly, but I just wanted to get back with you.

Please keep me updated. I can help with some of the issues you will be facing.

Take Care, Leonard (Soultions) from Alamo, Ca.

PS....My wife was diagnosed in 2003 and battled her cancer for 7 plus years. We experienced many many things.

Hi Ardell,

I'm sorry my previous message mislead you. My wife Karen passed away on December 2, 2010.

I battled with her for over 7 years. I guess I just didn't want you say Karen passed.

It sounds like you have bile duct cancer. If they say the tumor is in the bile duct in the liver they should have said you have intrahepatic bile duct cancer.

I'm no doctor, but I question them wanting to try and skrink it first before surgery. I'm assuming they want to shrink it with chemo... I would question the move.

Surgery is the best option to handle this cancer. Chemo afterwards is appropriate but surgery in most important.

Again, I may not know all the factors relating to your specific situation. But I am hearing some things that I would question.

Also, doing too many biopsy's in the liver must be done carefully. I believe when inserting a biopsy probe there are chances of causing internal bleeding.

I am sure they know what they are doing. I hope so anyway.

By the way...where are you being treated? What medical facility?

Take care Ardell.

Leonard

Hello Ardell,

Thank you, yes Karen is in a much better place than here battling this horrible cancer.

The facility you are being treated at appears to specialize in cancer issues...that's very good.

A team of 20 doctors, WOW...can't ask for much more than that.

I thought you mentioned in a previuos message that the tumor was in the liver bile ducts. That's why I mentioned intrahepatic bile duct cancer.

Yes I understand you confusion...

Remenber what I said...the best option to handle these types of cancer is surgery now and deal with chemo later.

But if you have 20 doctors on your case I am sure they know much more than I do about your siuation.

Stay positive and trust your doctor or in your case doctor's. The day you do not trust them...get a second opinion.

Take care,

Leonard from Alamo California
