Many common health conditions can be remedied with a healthy lifestyle that is accompanied by the use of certain herbal remedies. While Western Medicine relies heavily on the use of prescription drugs, most practitioners of Eastern Medicine, as well as traditional naturopathic doctors and herbalists, consider natural herbs and plants to be much healthier choices. Using medicinal herbs to treat any number of ailments allows you to benefit from a synergy of complex chemical components such as antioxidants and phytonutrients,as they occur in nature. So what types of herbs contain powerful healing properties?

Ginger

Praised by Confucius, ginger has been considered the universal medicine for many years. It is gentle on the stomach and is commonly used to relieve symptoms of nausea, indigestion, fever, and infection. More advanced research suggests that it may even be used for heart health, digestive health, preventing colds and flu,and assisting in weight loss.

Thyme

This herb is considered one of nature's most powerful antiseptics and is commonly used in certain mouthwash and decongestant products. Thyme can be added to teas and herbal drinks, where it helps relieve sore throat, cough, bronchitis, and laryngitis.

Garlic

Garlic has a number of active components, including allicin, alliinase and sulfur compounds, which contribute to its potent antibiotic, anti-viral and fungicidal properties. These assets make garlic highly effective in lowering high blood pressure, maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, and boosting the immune system.

Mint

In addition to carrying a distinct fragrant quality, mint also has the ability to settle the digestive tract, thus decreasing the severity and length of stomach aches. The herb can be added to teas, salads or eaten by itself to relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and hinder the growth of toxic bacteria in the stomach.

Lavender

Lavender is another fragrant herb that is used in a variety of medicinal and cosmetic products. It is largely cultivated for its natural oils which can calm nerves, alleviate headaches, and help to reduce stress.

Turning to herbal remedies for safe and natural treatments is an affordable way to maintain your health and vitality, while building your immune system and preventing many common illnesses. Not to mention leaving just one small ecological footprint or two in your garden bed.

Regarding chronic metabolic diseases in humans, such as cancer, have found that the more education you have about the human body and how it works, anatomy/physiology, and especially biochemistry, the more you realize that drugs made by man have the ability to cure and heal very very little, and do more harm than good most of the time. Virtually all drugs are toxic to the liver, with few exceptions. Most basically act as chemical straightjackets so to speak that block one pathway or another

For acute emergency situations and pain mgt, drugs are life savers. For almost all chronic long term diseases, they can only help a person deal with symptoms. The causes must be addressed and treated for a person to overcome chronic diseases such as cancer. Dr Max Gerson got it right 80 yrs ago when he said that the main causes of most chronic diseases are toxicity and deficiency. Deficiency of nutrients the body needs to function properly. He was the first person to cure tuberculosis, using no drugs

A good example of deficiency causing disease is with Type 1 diabetes. Large study in Finland with 10,000+ infants followed for 3o yrs. The infants were given 2,000 iu daily of Vit D, the first year or two of their life. After 30 yrs, those infants had 80% less incidence of type 1 diabetes compared to the general population

Found it really interesting how our current allopathic medical system was formed in the early 1900's. It wasn't because people flocked to allopathic doctors instead of homeopaths. More people actually went to homeopaths because what they had to offer helped them get over their health problems. The allopaths seeing their business go the homeopaths, formed basically a union called the AMA and brought in big business such as the oil and tobacco industries to back them with funding and advertising dollars. To follow were the pharmaceutical companies and medical schools with the help of these big businesses

Eastern Medicine on the other hand, uses what nature provides, and has much more success in helping people overcome the causes of their illnesses. Mother nature or God has provided us with bodies with amazing abilities to endure and heal when given what they need to function properly. All of these things grow in the earth and shine down from above, and won't be found in any pharmaceutical company petri dish
