Between 1950 and 2000 more people where killed
by the side effects of chemo than the cancers
they where used to treat. Here's a little history
lesson.In 1950,Cornelious P.Rhoads persuaded the
AMA to accept chemo as "the" way to treat cancer
and Mr.Rhoads had a very unusual job between 1943 and 1945.He was the head of the "CHEMICAL
WARFARE" division of the American Military. This
information is public record.Antineoplaston Therapy is a far better way to treat cancer and
it is about to enter PHASE III trials in Houston. This in itself is "ABSURD" because the
FDA has known for 15 years how well it works.

Antineoplaston therapy is actually a version of chemotherapy. Anti-neoplastons are chemicals isolated from urine. Once the results of the Phase II study of anti-neoplastons are published than you can make some efficacy claims. If I googled correctly, the preliminary results in malignant brain tumors, of 226 treated patients, had a 29.2% PR/CR rate. That PR/CR rate is half the PR/CR rate shown with CPT-11/Avastin. In addition, the Burzynski website lacks data on the durability of these responses. In addition, the study generally accepted statistical analyses such as Kaplan-Meier plots and peer reviews that you would find in a scientific journal. You might also want to mention the controversy surrounding Burzynski for the charges associated with his therapy. That would give people a more complete picture of your claims.

1--You might want to mention that he is forced
to deal with many patients AFTER chemo and
radiation have turned them into a train wreck

2--Oh you must mean the charges that the FDA
filed agains't him after he TURNED DOWN Elon
Pharmacuticals offer to buy his process.Buy
the way 200 of his patients showed up and pi-
picketed the court house and all charges whe-
re dropped.Light bulb gone on yet??

3--You are correct.It is a form of chemo.It just
doesn't make ANYBODY SICK.

4--Do you want names and numbers of people who
have been treated with it and are here to
tell it.
5--Here's a question? If Antineoplaston Therapy
isn't a legitimate alternative to radiation
and chemo, how does Burzynski's Clinic survi-
ve 26 year's in Houston with 6 hospitals inc-
luding M.D.ANDERSON right down the road.By
the way,M.D.ANDERSON lost 23 children in 2005
at there children's clinic including my daugh
ter.If chemo and radiation work so good, how
does the "BEST CANCER HOSPITAL IN AMERICA" do
that?
6--Anything else your not clear on yet???

Dear Randy,

I am so sad that you lost your daughter to this horrible disease. It is a nightmare to go through the ordeal you went through.

So far, anti-neoplastons have a remission rate 3 times worse than currently available chemotherapy.

I know you are very very angry at the world right now. It was not fair that your daughter got sick. She did not deserve such a fate. She should have grown up, gotten married, had some beautiful kids, and experienced life. You did not deserve such a fate, having to watch such a horrible thing.

But please, remember, just because you want a thing to be a certain way does not make it so. You have been misled on anti-neoplastons and in your current angry state of mind nothing anyone says to you will convince you otherwise. nothing. not even me.

Give it time. You will never forget your daughter, nor should you want to. There was nothing you could do to change things. Hopefully you will come to accept what has happened as something that was not your fault.

Anti-neoplastons would not have saved your daughter. When the final phase ii study results are published there will be no phase iii or iv trials because the phase ii trials showed it for what it is. years ago it quite possible was the best treatment available. but in 2006 it is not. Had you taken your daughter to Burzynski's Clinic she would have still died and now you would be beating yourself up over not leaving her at MD Anderson. It is not your fault. GBM is a horrible and fatal disease. It is human nature to feel the way you do after losing someone so dear to you. Don't beat yourself up.

I hope with time the pain you are feeling passes. Your daughter would not want you to be angry and blaming yourself. And neither do I.

I wish you all the best,
-Amnia

Your daughter's death is a tragedy I cannot comprehend. You are clearly angry at the medical establishment for your loss and I cannot blame you for that. However, there is still no proof that anti-neoplastons are any better than traditional therapy. In fact the results of anti-neoplastons could be worse. Burzynski hasn't published data to suggest otherwise. The root-cause of the controversy surrounding Burzynski and his methods are his steadfast refusal to publish his results - all of them. If his methods are so much better, what is the Progression-Free Survival and Overall Survival rate? What side-effects are there (nausea and vomiting are listed as potential side-effects on Burzynski's website). If many of his patients have failed earlier therapies and benefitted from neoplastons what were those therapies they failed and how much did they benefit? These are fundamental questions that need to be answered that have not been. Anecdotal statements about the efficacy of his treatments for cancer do not make them true. While I am open to the possibility that anti-neoplastons could provide some therapeutic benefit, it still has to be proven what that benefit can be. Burzynski has made a very good living over the years by not publishing any data to support his claims. The Phase II data will tell the tale. I wish Burzynski luck in his research against this terrible disease.

1--Radiation and chemo fail 98% of the time with
PONTINE BRAIN STEM GLIOMA.This is documented!
2--The FDA was at the clinic in July and are re-
turning in August to initiate Phase III tria-
ls.FACT
3--ELAN PHARMACEUTICALS tried to buy the Antine-
plaston Therapy process in 1995.FACT
4--No one answered the question.HOW DO YOU SURV-
IVE 26 YEARS IN HOUSTON WITH M.D.ANDERSON AND
5 OTHER HOSPITALS RIGHT DOWN THE STREET IF
YOUR PROCESS IS NOT VALID??
5--I dare you people to read about Thomas Navar-

Your facts are all well and good, but are still not proof that anti-neoplaston therapy provides an increase in overall survival or progression free survival over traditional methods of treating malignant brain tumors. A pharmaceutical company making an offer to purchase the rights to anti-neoplastons does not mean the drug is effective. Stating the fact that current treatments may be statistically ineffective against some types of tumors also does not mean that anti-neoplaston therapy works. The fact a clinic survives 26 years with MD Anderson down the road is not proof that anti-neoplaston therapy works. Entering a Phase III trial also does not mean anti-neoplastons work any better than traditional treatments. I am open to the possibility that anti-neoplastons may have some effect against some types of cancers, but simply have not seen any data to that effect. The Scientific Method works - it will distinguish fact from fiction. Anecdotal statements of efficacy are not proof that one method is superior to another. Citing one case (Thomas Navar) who survived 26 months is not proof the therapy works. Over the past 2 years treatment of malignant gliomas has progressed rapidly with a better understanding of the genetic makeup of tumors and targeted therapies designed to destroy only the cancer cells. While I acknowledge Burzynski has long been an advocate of targeted therapies, he has yet to prove that his drugs work any better than currently available therapies. The Phase III trial should tell the tale. Is that trial for newly-diagnosed or recurrent patients? When is the Phase II data being published? I am curious to read the Phase II results, especially the analysis of patient population and OS/PFS.

Let's look at it a new way.In 2005, in South Carolina 9045 people died from cancer.FACT

Guess how all of them where treated?

Answer--IT WASN'T ANTINEOPLASTON THERAPY!!!!!

If this therapy did not cut the hospitals and
drug company's out of the picture it would have
been given FULL APPROVAL years ago.The 23 dead children at M.D.ANDERSON in 2005 grossed the hospital about $6,000,000 dollars.Death pays pretty good, doesn't it??

The 'fact' that 9045 people in SC died from cancer in 2005 and they did not recive anti-neoplastons is not proof that anti-neoplaston therapy is an effective cancer fighting treatment. You imply many of these people would have been saved if on anti-neoplastons rather than best available treatment. Your supposition ignores the fact that many in SC have cancer and did not die in 2005 because their front-line treatments were effective. The only way to draw a conclusion based on your logic would be to randomize every cancer patient based on cancer type, age, gender, functional status, prior therapies, and other health issues into a 'best currently available' versus 'anti-neoplaston' group and see who lived the longest. This is why Phase III trials are conducted. You are clearly angry at the medical establishment for having failed to help your daughter. There are battles against cancer being won every single day in hospitals and clinics across the globe. Lance Armstrong survived metastacized testicular cancer, my mother-in-law is a 21 year breast cancer survivor and my wife has outlived her 12 month GBM prognosis and runs triathlons (while taking chemotherapy). All of these people have been helped tremendously by modern medicine. Cancer is a terrible disease, even moreso when it claims a child. That is not a reason to forsake modern medicine in the pursuit of an unproven treatment.

My daughter was treated at the "BEST HOSPITAL"
in South Carolina. It failed miserably. My daught-
er was treated at the "BEST HOSPITAL"in America.
It failed miserably. What never fails is the GIANT payday the hospital gets for every dead
child.Since January I have contacted numerous
households around America with children and brain tumors and the rule of thumb seems to be
1--Child goes to cemetary.
2--Parents go to the poor house.
3--Hospital goes to the bank.
Tevis Brinley in Kentucky was treated for 2years
for a tumor. He died and the final bill was 2
million dollars and the Brinleys lost there
house.I am in touch with 3 households right now
that have gone bankrupt fighting there childs
pontine glioma and there children are on there death beds.I am acquainted with a child named
Dalton Bailey who died in my county witha brain tumor. He died curled up in the fetal position refusing to get out of bed because of non stop diahrea making his whole butt red.Thomas Navarro
was supposed to avoid this nightmare but a sick
law drug him into it.Now on August 17,Jim Navarro will join me in a meeting with a Cong-
essman to DEMAND a congressional hearing to get
rid of a law that is desighned to allow the hos-
pital and drug company profit chokehold to cont-
inue.Still think I am JUST A ANGRY FATHER?
