What do you think?

Hi everyone,  I don't know much about Alternative treatments and am not sure what to make of what I come across, like, abettercancertreatment.blogspot.com . Does anyone think this may be a legitimate treatment option. It sounds maybe too good to be true. I would appreciate the opinions of those who seem to know what they are talking about. Thankyou  sara

Sara, I'm just a little nervous about spending untold amounts of time studying something while cancer is growing inside me. I understand that there are lots of folks who beleive that natural (herbal) means to be healthy are all around us.. Me included. I found that a combination of radiation, chemotherapy and naturopathic medications along with good nutrition was best for me. If there is a way to stop an aggressive tumor in it's tracks and reverse it with an all natural approach in a hurry, I'll be first in line.

AlanRinHBG,  Hi, thanks for your reply. I like the way you think. This is what I was wondering, you said "if there is a way to stop an aggressive tumor in it's tracks and reverse it with an all natural approach in a hurry, I'll be first in line." Well, according to the Cancer research on this site, medicinal plant extracts can stop tumors (cancer cells) in their track, and very quickly at that! So I don't know what to think. Here's a couple examples of what I've read. Maybe you could give me your opinion on this stuff.

"Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive human malignancies." "Berberine causes cell death in human pancreatic cancer cells." "(24 hours) after treatment berberine showed preferential selectivity toward cancer cells compared to normal cells." - Planta Medica  (Journal) 2010 Aug; 76 (11) 1155-61

"Treatment with capsaicin for (24 hours) resulted in dose-dependent apoptosis." - Oncology Reports  (Journal) 2009 Mar; 21 (3) 665-71

"New agent from Apricot induces striking cell death in colon cancer cells...Apricot compound induced apoptosis after (6 hours)." - World Journal of Gastroenterology, 2007 Dec 28; 13 (48) 6512-7

"Mushroom extracts induced an exceptionally rapid apoptosis on breast cancer cells within (2 hours) of treatment." - Oncology Reports  (Journal) 2006 Feb; 15 (2) 417-23

"Propolis induced apoptosis in breast cancer cells within (48 hours) after treatment." - Anticancer Research  (Journal) 2001 May-Jun; 21 (3b) 1665-71

"Results indicate that naphthaquinones induced apoptosis in Leukemia, Melanoma, Brain and Colon cancer cells after (72 hours)." - Chemico-Biological Interactions  (Journal) 2010 Mar 30; 184 (3) 439-48

Not to mention all the other research that speaks of "Remarkable" cancer cell death, without giving a time frame. So I'm wondering what's up here. What do you think"  Thanks  Sara

Sara, You seem to be doing alot if homework. Are you considering these treatments for yourself? I would ask,, "what do you think?" I read over the blog you presented. The "dr" says he'll cure your cancer in 3 months or your money back. Wow. Oh yeah, just for the products, not his bill. What do you think? Gee, call me a skeptic or whatever you want. Oh and " the drug companies and treatment centers want all of us to remain chronic for their profit. Please. What do you think? How much does it cost initially to subscribe to this guy? And in 3 months you get back your "medicine" money back but your cancer is advanced by 3 months. What do you think? There is a whole section on this forum dedicated to alternative treatments. Ask there, what they think. I'm probably the wrong guy. But then, noone else responded. What do you think?

Hi.

A lot of what they say is correct in the form of why there is so much cancer nowadays,

However I am not sure that that good nutrients and plant medicines will reverse cancer after it has taken hold, and I am always suspicious of regimes where they dont tell you which medicines etc are involved (in other words they dont get to the point)

A little understanding goes a long way. If nutrients and plant medicines (plant compounds), of which we are made, can't reverse the malignancy process, then what can? Toxic, damaging chemicals (chemo) and radiation?

Also, do you know what medicines (drugs) are involved in conventional treatments, and how they work? How much of that do you know? They tell you next to nothing. Are you a Practitioner, Naturopath etc. Even if you knew (the names) of the medicines being used how much would you really understand?

Hi Sarah.

All that information is with petri dishes, a far different thing from in vivo, or human trials, remember all those plant extracts need to pass through your stomach and digestive system and avoid being eliminated by your liver/kidneys.

Curcumin works like magic in a petri dish, but it's bioavailability is so poor it doesn't work well in real life.

Plus they seem exaggerated to me, you should go pubmed.org and check yourself.

Stuart,  You made some good points. But, a cancer cell is a cancer cell whether in culture (petri dish), xenographed (implanted in a mouse), or on the moon. If something causes a cancer cell to self-destruct, without damage to healthy cells, it will cause it to die regardless of (where) it is. And the body is the perfect "petri dish". The real issue is getting the medicine, medicinal plant extracts (to) the cancer cells or tumor. Isolated compounds, like curcumin from Turmeric, that have been isolated from the (whole) plant extract (hardly) make it through the acidic enviroment of the stomach, intact. Which means, they don't get absorbed by the intestines (intact) on a molecular level, and so , don't do a whole lot of good when and (if) they reach cancer cells or tumor. The (whole) medicinal plant extract, made up of (many) compounds, protects the anti-tumor compounds, ie curcumin, as they pass through the stomach, so that they reach the intestines, blood stream and tumor cells (intact). And Turmeric has several more anti-tumor compounds, than just curcumin. Other ways of making sure that medicinal plant compounds, and their many anti-tumor compounds, reach cancer cells is of course IV infusion and/or injection into or around tumors.

If you think those Cancer researchers/scientists are exaggerating, you tell (them). If you (really) want to know the truth, you will. If you don't, you won't.
