Pain After Mastectomy

Hello fellow mastectomy patients, If anyone could help me out on this? I had a mastectomy done 2 weeks ago, ( 7-25-06 ), and I can't find anything stating the side effects of the surgery. I have pain in the underarm and some pain where the breast was. I have trouble sleeping due to the tenderness of the underarm and breast. Pain meds don't seem to help. Plus I'm a strong woman and everytime I look at the empty breast I start to cry or get very mad at myself. If anyone can give me any thoughts on what to do or help. Even if there is a sight that someone my know , that I can look into. Thank you

HI Maureen, I will be praying for you, I don't have breast cancer, but I have Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia, it is cancer of the b cells, and very rare, I know we have a couple of gals on our prayer board that have had mastectomies, the web site is www.allin1accord.com and the user name is praise passsword is love if you would like to visit us, I am sure they would be glad to talk to you about this, they are very loving and caring people, it is an awesome place for prayer, and to discuss things, it helps to have a good support group, they have helped me so much this past year, I don't know what I would have done with out them, we are more like a family then anything, Please, the most important thing, is to keep a positive attitude, I know how scarey all this can be, but thats the first thing my onc. told me, was keep a positive attitude, a smile on my face and my faith in God, and it really works!
