Hi happyhugs , I was due to go on gdc and i asked Tom Powels the same question about picking up colds etc  He told me that was a different part of the immune system that was effected and that should nt be a problem .

Hope that helps

Barry has been on Everolimus for 9 weeks now. In week five he started to suffer from severe fatigue and shortness of breath. It turns out that he was anaemic and so last Friday he had a blood transfusion. This was his 9th week. Today he feels so much better. Apparently 92% of patients on an Everolimus trial suffered with anaemia, so you need to make sure that you have regular blood tests.

I have a chance to go on this trial very soon- Anyone heard of any experiences/results with gynecological cancers? I have had previous cycles with chemo and radiation and have one stubborn tumor which keeps returning. I really don't know what to do- either stay with chemo or try the GDC0980. Any recommendations out there??

How is everyone getting on with the trial? We have had some really amazing news. My mum had her scan last week as saw Dr Powles yesterday and her cancer tumours on my lungs have reduced by a MASSIVE 60%. We are sooo happy. Dr said hopefully at her next scan they should be gone. Everyone is surprized at the results we didn't expect such an amazing reduction, neither did the doctor. Thank you Everolimus!. I hope everyone is well. Xxx

Wonderful news. Are you on Everolimus or the trial drug. Barry is on Everolimus and at the first scan he was stable. However he's had to have two blood transfusions and is very fatigued. Hope your mum carries on doing well.

Hi

I decided to start the GDC0980. I've been on for four weeks now and seeing great results. I can feel the tumor is much smaller and less dense. I have had to go on metformin to control blood sugar and lost about 15 lbs. I am exhausted most of the time, but am off work for the summer, luckily. Anyone elae have results? I have had a bit of trouble with breathing, but the hot humid weather may be exacerbating the condition. I get a new scan in 3 weeks!!

Rangemom - did you have your scan yet? I'm considering beginning the same trial for endometrial recurrence. I would really love to hear your experiences.
