My husband was dx last June with stage4 lung cancer with lesions on the brain and in the bones. He had radiation on his brain and spine with some good readings ,. Has chemo every 3 weeks since september. Now he is going on the pill tarceva and I am worried will this give him more time. We are also moving back home which is 1500 miles away. How do we start again?    Is this pill tarceva any good what are the side effects. I am sure the docter told us but we don't remember,  Thanks for any information.

Hi there,

I think if you go to the lung cancer section here, you'll find all kinds of coversations about tarceva.  It's been proven to be a wonderful drug, keeping patients stable for sometimes years.  Your doctor should have given you information about the drug and it's side effects.  My oncologist gave me an entire loose leaf notebook along with some cream.  Some of the side effects are diahrea and facial sores resembling pimples.  I do think though, if you check out the lung cancer discussions about tarceva and what good results people are having with it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I was stage 3a non small cell lung cancer, and I've been cancer free since July 2010.  I am so very thankful to God, and I pray your husband recieves excellant results with the tarceva.  God Bless the both of you,  Byrd

I hope your husband is having good results with Tarceva.  I was diagnosed with a reoccurance of stage IV lung cancer in May 2011.  After 2 months of Tarceva my PET scan came back as "no evidence of disease".  Thank God for his healing power and the wonders of modern medicine.
