hello anyone and everyone.  I was diagnosed with cml june/2011.  Due to an intollerance/resistence to gleevec, I have been put on tasigna.  Is there anybody else taking this drug and how are you tolerating it?  I am 49 years old and I work as a hospital cleaner.  It could be a very physical job.  I find myself very tired and week and I need to coffee and candy up constantly in order to perform my duties.  However, by the time the weekend rolls around, I find myself unable to do much of anything other than sleep.  My body hurts constantly.  It seems that the only things that I can do in my life are work and sleep.  Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

Dina,

I can definitely relate to the tiredness and just wanting to sleep.  My doctor put me on 54mg ER of Concerta and I am having much better days.  If I forget to take it on the weekend, I can tell a huge difference.  It has made a difference in my job performance and my social life.  I seem to be in that minute percent of people who get bone aches with the CML drugs - that can really make you miserable by itself.  I found that taking 800 mg of ibuprofen once a day seemed to help out a lot with it.  I am almost 51 and was diagnosed in November of 2010 so I understand completely.

I hope things are going better with you!

DinaR,

I have been taking Tasigna for my CML since October 2011.  I had the same side effect to the medication as you have (fatigue), along with other minor issues (stomache cramping and headaches).  My doctor gave me a prescription to Ambien (a sleeping aid), and my fatigue and headaches eventually went away.  You might want to talk to your doctor about this issue, and maybe they can prescribe something to help you instead of you drinking caffeinated drinks.
