I am a survior of stage 4 CC.
I suggest you consult the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and get the treatment protocol for colon cancer. It is THE treatment plan the oncologists use. It is put together by oncologists using the latest information and clinical studies. It is very medical so you have to read throught it numerous times but you can show it to our oncologist and ask him questions about it. I did and it helped alot.
With that information you can compare what oncologists are telling you and judge for yourself if they seem competent.
You CAN beat this thing. Good luck, keep fighting, and God bless,

Hi amylinn, first of all sorry about your situation. My husband was dx with Stage 3 cancer and clear after 6 months of chemo in March 2011 then in Jan 12' diagnosed stage 4 cc due to mets on his liver. After 6 rounds of chemo his CEA dropped to 5.9 (which is a great response!). Fight this like crazy! Read everything you can get your hands on, make the docs answer your questions. It has been my experience that they have a hard time thinking outside their office walls. I read this fantastic book "The Anti-Cancer: a new way of life". It changed out lives in the nutrition area and helps you narrow down what foods that will help your husband help make chemo more effective and side effects less. Awesome book. My husband has been getting the maximum blast at chemo had has had NO side effects. If you are looking for one of the top hospitals, City of Hope in Southern California has a great track record. I wish you love and strength. Stay strong and don't forget to take care of yourself so you can take care of him!
