24 year old daughter with stage IV colon cancer

My daughter was diagnosed on December 21, 2010 with stage IV colon fencer. A few days earlier she had extreme pain in her right side, so much that she felt she needed to go to the emergency room. A few hours later they did a sonogram and found a mass in her liver. They immediately hospitalized her and over the next few days did additional tests, including a colonoscopy. The results confirmed the diagnosis - the cancer originated in the colon and had spread to her liver and lungs. A few months before this she had complained of pain in her side and back. We did go to her doctor who thought maybe she pulled a muscle; she was taking a physical education class at the time. She went to see her doctor two separate times but each time they did nothing further. My daughter at the age of 17 had been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. They prescribed asacol (a form of aspirin) which she took for years. She had blood in her stools which seemed to be controlled more or less with this regimen. Stress seemed to worsen her symptoms but she just learned to live with it. After her colon cancer diagnosis I learned that she had previously been throwing up every day. This started about a month or so before. It was mostly at night, just like clockwork, and it was violent. She wasn't feeling sick; she just had to throw up and then she was better. Well long story short, the doctor's were not painting a rosy picture about her condition. Basically they talked about palliative care and quality of life. She underwent three separate rounds of chemo, but the cancer proved to be the winner. She took her last breath on August 9, 2011. She would have turned 25 on September 15th. We did seek a second opinion at CTCA. They were extremely helpful; at least we learned what treatments would and would not work. I am starting a blog about her journey. I have so much information that I want to she about all that she went through. If you care to follow her journey please visit daretohopeanddream.com . It is a work in progress but my hope is that it may be helpful to others. May god bless all of you.

Please tell me what CTCA stands for. I am so sorry for the loss of your daugther. It makes me so upset. My mum has been diagnosed with the same since september. She is doing terribly. Quimo is not working and I need to find out quicky what will work. We have also tried alternative treatment (cecium chlorite) which seems to have caused problems with the heart according to the doctors. We need to know what works and what not works, so if CTCA knows, please help me to get in contact with them. We live in NOrway.

CTCA is Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I don't believe that are global. You mentioned that she has tried alternative treatments. We were going to try DCA (dichloroacetate). It is a natural substance and her doctor was going to allow this. Unfortunately my daughter was too sick. At this point in time she had failed the third round of chemo. I wish we had known about it earlier. I will pray for you and your mother.

Hi. So glad for your response. We have tried cecium chlorite, but my mum had a terrible reaction and almost died from it this week. It was due to the fact she is allergic obviosly to this substance. DCA ; who treats with this substance? Is it CTCA? I am so happy for any information you can provide me. I will pray also for you and your future blessings if you are able to see any future hope after losing your daughter. It must be terrible. I lost a friend that young last year. God bless you.

DCA is a natural substance. I would ask your Mom's doctor if he could prescribe it for her. Look on the Internet and you will see a lot about this. Be careful though; you can buy it online but you really want the doctor's input. It is not chemo. Unfortunately there have not been many clinical trials with this. The reason is because there is no money to be made. The big pharmaceutical companies want the doctors to give chemo because there is a lot of money to be made. I wish we had known about it sooner. I wis you and your mother the very best.

Hi.  I am really sorry to hear your news.  I am even more sorry that you have to go through this alone.  How long have you had colon cancer?  What is the stage of your cancer?  Have you had any treatments yet?  Looking forward to keeping in touch.

You mentioned you tried the cesium chloride....you know, this has to be done with extreme caution, can bring about heavy loss of potassium in the body....you have to take the right amt of cesium or it will cause cancer to grow, rather than kill it.   Cesium is a salt, not deadly in itself, but reacts with other substances to drop potassium levels....Get on Asparagus puree asap, google: maitake d-fraction mushroom, phytoplankton, laetrile-B-17, Honokiol, cut the sugars, glutemates, milk products....they feed cancer.   check nutrition sites.   Know it seems bleak, but stay strong, fight and know you can improve your situation.

What chemo did you have? When will you get the results of your CT scan? Not sure where you live but I hope you have a doctor that will keep trying. Don't give up. I will always keep in touch. I will pray for you
