Newly-Diagnosed Urachal Carcinoma

My fiance was recently diagnosed with urachal carcinoma. Her tumor was discovered eventually by CT scan (after nothing showed up via ultrasound) when she was being investigated for severe abdominal/pelvic pain. Her urologist described the tumor as small and "encapsulated;" he described her bladder as "intact." He has treated others with urachal tumors, and plans surgery to remove the urachus and the dome of the bladder and all margins; no chemo or radiation. From my reading of other posts here that's not unusual. She has diabetes mellitus (Type I), so also has a nephrologist and internist involved in her care, but no oncologist, so far as I'm aware. Perhaps the plan is to involve oncology after the surgery? (A good question for us to ask, I suppose.) Surgery is scheduled for April 17. We are of course hoping that the surgery is "curative," as the urologist described it, but my fiance is scared that the urologist will find that the Ca has spread. Her family and I are trying to help her to think positively.

Always think "positive".  I have just been diagnosed with BC and I am having my second surgery May 1.  I will then start BCG Therapy.  I look at my BC as an opportunity to walk closer to God.  He has been trying to get me to slow down and focus on him and well NOW I HAVE TOO!!!  Good luck and keep us posted. ~Pat
