New diagnosis

Hi thereIm new to the site, having only recently been diagnosed with Goblet Cell Carcinoid of the appendix, a rare but fairly aggressive cancer.  Following surgery for what they first suspected was Ovarian Cancer, in which I had a total hysterectomy, it became aparent that the cancer was spread between my appendix, ovaries and my bowel.  My ovaries and appendix was removed, however, they could not remove the cells from my bowel as it would have meant removing my whole bowel and the consultant advised me he didnt want to do that until he knew for sure what the primary source was.  The histology report came back last week and confirmed the primary source was in fact the appendix.  I am now 3 weeks post-op, and very much aware that I still have it growing on my bowel.  I am now awaiting an appointment to see a bowel specialist who will decide my next course of treatment, whether I will have to have the bowel removed or if I go straight into chemo.

I have three lovely children, aged 16, 15 and only 1 and its hard work keeping things as stable as we can when I have all of this hanging over me ...... Just wondering if there is anybody out there with any wise words of wisdom or that may have some experience with the goblet cell carcinoid as everywhere I read, it jsut appears that its very rare.  I have daily visits from a district nurse at the moment, and they had never even heard of it.

Can anyone help?

Ah, now I see where you discussed the bowel.  Especially since "they" believe you have bowel involvement please go to the support group.  There are people there who discuss this who can answer these questions.
