I had ovarian cancer (Adino - Carcinoma ) in 2007. I got operated and was under gone 6 cycles chemotherapy with Carboplatin and Peclitexol. Now during followup in Jan'12 Ca-125 level increased to182. some patches observed in lever. FNAC shows the recurance of the same. same medicine srarted. Now i m under chemotherapy. But after 3rd cycle CA-125 was 87. After 4th cycle it increased to 113.Is chemo not working, or there is platinum resistance grown up? Dr. adviced to continue the same men for 6 cyles. i m very much upset. please please help me what to do? what is the currect way? can i get back cancer free life?please...........

Sometimes cancer markers increase when there is necrosis, I.e dying tumour cells. Pl do ur cancer marker tests after every two months of chemo, that will be a better indication. liver tumours can be resected or ablated. Depend on how many tumours and size. Chemo reduces chance of further metastases. Also reduces tumour size and further progression. Have faith, all will be well. Actually ur cancer markers have reduced from 182 to113. Also, the Ct pet will be actual indication of chemo working etc. Shitul

Most probabily you are currect. But  during this time I have completed Six cycle of chemotherapy with same medicine as done before. After that on May 15 CT(Thorax+Abdomen+Pelvis)  shows that there in no change in size of the tumeras that was before 65 days. But CA-125 increases to 131.Now what to do?

I just saw your post, sorry for the delay. I have had 5 different rounds of chemotherapy over the last 5 years (treatment once a year for 6 months). I too have it in my liver, it keeps coming back in my liver. Besides loosing my hair, after I am done with chemo I feel great. I exercise during chemo and eat really healthy year around. I am thinking about taking avastin non stop as my doctor told me he has a patient that has kept chemo away for 20 years using this method of taking Avastin. Let me know if you have questions. I know it is scary but don't lose your hope.

One of my patient also had stage 4 ovarian cancer from silicon implant leak and had her cancer operated on 10 years ago, but her cancer spread and her oncologlist told her she had 6 months . She then got treat with VitC IV from  metabolic Dr. Brochoff MD-retired whom I work with. After 2 months she was cancer free. And she continue the vitC maintenance  once a month for another year. Since then she is cancer free. I am her acupuncturist and I provide her herbs to prevent her cancer. She said the herbs I gave her lower the Ca-125 level even more.  I recommend finding the nearest OD or ND(license to do IV) locally -nearest heavy metal detox  center.

Her insurance United Health Care eventually paid all the bills .

Good luck
