My uncle lived for 12 years following his lung cancer! Had 1 lung removed. He actually passed away of heart failure.

Just came from Sisters Dr. sais portion of Non small cell tumor has small cell in it. Looks like it is called Mixed small/large cell. Finding info is kindof cofusing. Any suggestions? Surgery was 7/5/12 took lower right lobe. Lymph nodes are all negative. Chemo will be started in a few weeks.

I have several friends that have lived over 20 years (one died of natural causes at an advanced age.  I am a 2 year survivor or NSCLC after having 1 lung removed.  I feel fantastic.  I've traveled the world 2 summers in a row, work PT & volunteer in the community.  This might sound odd but I'm really a much happier person now as I don't sweat the small stuff as they say.  I've also gained new perspective on life in the best of ways.  Hope this helps!  Good luck with all, Lisa F.

There is always hope and I am a 38 year lung cancer survivor. I was given 6 months to live at the time of diagnoses in 1974. I have a strong faith in God and believe that was an important part of my recovery--my faith and optimism. Now at age 80 I continue to be very active--mentally, physically and spiritually. If I can be of assistance please ask.
