Hi Bonnie,

My husband is on Xeloda, he hates it... he got the hands and feet syndrome too, try Udder creme... avoid hot showers...get some super comfy slippers, with lots of padding... talk to your oncologist... it is common to have the scaly feet and hands from Xeloda... avoid any thing that will cause irritation , avoid pressure to the hands and feet....

your dose may be too high.. speak to the doc...

Best...

Thanks for you response to my entry. My doctor took me off the XELODAI for a week when I have an appointment with him. He may adjust my dose to one week on and one week off. Udder cream doesn't seem to do much. My hands and feet are red, hot, cracking and swollen. Has your husband had side effects to that extent? Thanks, Bonnie

Hi,

My husband found a creme at the hardware store used for people in construction... not sure if they will have it your way...

keep looking for a good strong moisturizer to relieve the cracking , drink your water to stay hydrated... the cancer cells are fighting hard to win the batlle, push back, you can do it.

Best

I've been on Xeloda for 1+ yrs.  Worst side is feet.  The best thing I've found so far is Kerasal; tried Aquafor, Eucerin, etc.  Podatrist gave me a Rx for new product called Neosalus.  Comes in different forms, mine is for lotion.  Very $$.  $232.00 for 8 oz.  New product, said it heals from inside out.  Not covered by Medicare.  Haven't bitten bullet yet to fill Rx.  I wear rubber gloves but husband does most of kitchen clean up.  I started w/8 500 pills a day, Dr. reduced to 6, on a week off a week, which helped a little.  Lubricate feet at least 3 times a day; sometimes more.  Sorry can't be more helpful.

My husband has hand and feet problems too, and we found a cream that helps somewhat more than regular hand creams.  It is called O'Keefe's Working Hands, and you can get it at Lowe's.  It comes in a flat round green container and is around $7. Regular Carmex in the little jar helps also.  You have to be dilligent with it. Use the Carmex on any cracks that start on fingertips.
