question about mucus discharge from rectum after colonostomy

Like many I have discharge from my rectum. I know that is normal, but I have begun to have rectal pain...but also both buttock cheeks are painful...not to the touch but just hurts..like I've been spanked hard. Also pain radiates up my spinal chord starting with my rectum and ending about where my buttocks become my back.

Recently when I discharge the mucus (I can do that purposefully), it feels like I'm passing little solid pieces along with the mucus. However, when I look I can see nothing but the mucus. I read elsewhere that sometimes the mucus can harden and become painful...but don't know if that is what is causing my pain.

Can someone help me? Has anyone here experienced that or know of someone who has?

Sorry your having problems, I would definatly seek counsel from your doctor, I have had an illeostomy for almost 6months and getting ready for a reversal.... but I have never experianced pain like you describe.  I have had some mucas but that isnt to bad.  I pray all goes well for you, let me know what you find out.  God Bless
