Kevin,

Make an appointment with a Urologist, this could be caused by an infection, it doesn't necessarily mean you have prostate cancer. The only way to tell if it is prostate cancer is a biopsy. Even if it is prostate cancer most are curable. What is your history with psa test? Did you have a digital rectal exam? and if so what was the result?

I haven't been getting it checked regularly. so there is no baseline. New primary ordered one, it was 31, he called meat home and asked me to have another redone right away, he thought it was a lab error.  It came back 30. I am 59 so he referred me to a urologist. Urologist gave me a round of bactrim. After a week I had it done again it was 33. So I guess the next step is a biopsy and a bone scan. Some say the needle biopsy spreads the cancer. I know there are other types of infections. I feel i need to know soon with this number so high. Do you agree?

Kevin,

With a high number like that you should biopsy soon. Hopefully your biopsy won't be bad. Normally prostate cancer is slow growing if it is encapsulated so you have time to research your options. If the cancer has escaped the prostate than you need to move on it. As far as the biopsy spreading the cancer the needles closes up after each sample is taken, what can happen are bacteria infections since the needle penetrates the colon wall. But you have little choice since most doctors won't treat you without a biopsy.

Good luck

Dan

Ditto! BTW, bought some turkey tail capsules to add to regimen. Next PSA in 30 days.
