My mom was diognosed with stomach cancer a couple months ago.  At first they though it was just in her stomach.  She went for surgry this week and the dr relized it was worse then expected.  He had to take part of her liver, small intestings and espogus and all of her stomach.  He said shes in stage 4 and will have to go to chemo.  Does anyone know what the survial rate is with someone who has stage 4 and went threw the surgry and chemo and also is the chemo a pill like most websites say?

My father was first diagnosed with Somach Cancer in Oct 2007 & passed away June 20,2012. So he lived almost 5 years after diagnose of cancer. It was what I called invisiable cancer. They couldn't see it with any kind of scan. Only a biopsy of the lining showed it. He then went on Radition and Chemo. Not sure of the length he was on that but after he was done he was cancer free for atleast 2 years. But it came back in other places. Had surgery and it was all removed. They never removed his stomach. Then they put him back on chemo again. That gave him 2 more years. I thought the chemo was to get rid of the cancer but a few months before he pass I was told it was only to give him more time. I kept myself halfly in the dark about my dads cancer. I didn't want to know the details. Last 7 months when I knew his time was getting short I started to learn all I could and I wanted to know everything. Got copies of this blood reports and research what all of it meant.

I know everyone is differnt but if they got it all and she goes on chemo she should get many more years to spend with you. But do charish every day, moment & sec extra that you get with her . You truely never know when she will be called home. Remember not to leave anything unsaid =) I know all to well what you are going though and my heart pours out to you. My wounds are still very fresh from my loss. But I do hope things go well for your mother. I will keep you and your family in my prayers  **hugs**
