My father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma May 21, 2012 and died June 5, 2012. We never heard of that cancer and when diagnosed the doctor told us that there was no cure, but it was a treatable cancer. We felt like we dogged a bullet and according to the doctor he was going to start chemo the next day and that my father will be back to work in about four months. Unfortunately, that was not the case. While at the hospital they gave my dad a shot that was going to clean his blood since it was high in calcium in which was not good for his kidneys. However, a side effect of the drug is that it will enhance the development of cancer cells. My dad did not start chemo till a week and half later and we seen my father deteriorate physically. Once he started chemo we feel that the cancer was so advanced that the chemo didn’t work. I just don’t know where to begin. Now that I read about MM, I could look back and see all the systems. My dad had back pains but we thought it was because he hurt himself at work. Workers comp took x-rays and they came out negative but a few weeks later in the ER they said my dad had four fractures in his back, a symptom of MM. This just happened to fast and we have lots of questions…..
