Hello.  I am 36 year old male who my father is 69 and has colon cancer.  He has cancer in his colon and liver.  He went through four sessions of chemo when he had to have emergency surgery for his colon.  My father's colon had expanded and they did surgery but now he has a open wound from the surgery which stopped his chemo.  He is in a care and rehab center now after two hospitals.  My father's wound is healing and he seems to be getting stronger.  But after the surgery he didnt look or feel too well.  My father has lost alot of weight during all of this.  My father is also has a colostomy bag i think is what it is.   I am looking for support from others.

Thank You

I'm 38, lost my father to colon cancer in 2000 and my step father in 2008.  Now my boyfriend has colon cancer.  He also has a colostomy bag.  He's tolerating the chemo well, its been about one year since they found large mass in his colon.  He is only 50.

Stay strong Antonio.  If your family has money, I suggest trying Burzynski's clinic / cure.  The chemo today is pretty good though, compared to the past.

I'm 34 and my father is 68, he was just diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and has 4 spots on his liver.  He's finished 4 chemos and they did reimaging today and we will see doctor again on Tuesday to see whats next. My father didn't have any masses in his colon - he had a small pollyp and had it removed but the doctor said because it was so small he didn't need chemo or anything further but it did keep coming back but the doctor stayed right ontop of it and then all of a sudden he was having an ultrasound for a kidney stone and they noticed spots on his liver and sure enough it was colon cancer.

I like you am looking for support because I am lost...

So sorry to hear about your Dad. Dont give up hope there are lots of things that can be done to try to cure/slow cancer and to prelong life.

My Mum (65) started with stage 4 colon cancer in Nov 2011 and also had multiple mets (10+) in her liver (both lobes and throughout) and 2 in her lung. We were told it was inoperable and that with pallative chemo we may get 18 months.

My mum has had 4 lots of chemo and a great thing has happened. They have just been able to cut out the main tumour from her colon and they say the mets in the liver have shrunk a lot.

Yesterday they scanned her liver to see where we go from here and she will get her next appointment (with consultant) on the 25th of July to review scan.

They have told us that it is possile to take out up to 65% of ther liver and it will still grow back - so I guess we just wait and see what they suggest next.

The best advice I can give is to stay on top of the treatment, dont leave anything to chance and always follow up - dont let him get over looked or slip under the radar.

Good luck to you and your family - stay strong and message me anytime for support x

I feel lost and alone sometimes.  I always thinking of my father and it is worse at night.  This makes life so much harder with everything else.  My mother is being strong for everyone and I know it takes a toll on her.  We have family and freinds praying for my father's health and our family.   Someone told me about this website so i am glad to talk to people and hear from others with their sitatuions and loved ones.

Your Mum's story is very inspirational!  It gives me hope for my aunt who has a fairly similar situation.  Thank you for sharing.
