Subject: Where Are Statistics??????
Date: 09/01/2006
Hi. I am 53 and was diagnosed with small cell cervical cancer in June. Had a radical hysterectomy on July 25th and was diagnosed at stage 1b. I had absolutely no symptoms at all and it was caught early on a yearly pap. Mine is genetic as everyone in my family has had some type of cancer.

I know our type of cancer is rare, but where are the statistics? Isn't there any doctor or scientist who is keeping this information? I want hope. I don't want to feel like a freak.

Next week I will be starting radiation and chemo. Not looking forward to either but . . .

Hi Renee,

I'm new here, and new to SCLC too, but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you, and how very brave you sound!

My husband has just been diagnosed, so I've read until my eyeballs are about to fall out, but haven't seen much of an answer to your question either.....

Take care, and best of luck to you.

My sister is now 85 and 7 yrs. ago she had the same type of cancer as me but hers went to the Liver and mine went to the head of the pancreas and she is a survivor and I am too, having been told on Monday I am now Cancer Free, after having the big Pet Scan done, wonderful, so keep your chin up, there are miracles and always hope and the power of friends and prayer sure helped as well.
