High Lab Findings While On Nexavor

My husband found out three years ago that his cancer had come back. It is in his liver, pancreas, and lungs. He has been on Interfuron, avastin, and is now on nexavor. His last ct scan showed that his cancers had grown in his liver and pancreas Also showed he had some acites in his abdomen. He had a high alkaline phosphatase level. Normal is 38-126. His was 246. Does anyone know the meaning of this. One tumer in his liver is 15.8cm. Very large.

My mother was on Nexavar for about 8 months, her labs stayed pretty good other than her red count would go down pretty low. If these treatments are not working well for him you may want to consider Interleukin 2 treatment. It is similar to Interferon, but it is at a much higher dose. It has to be done in the hospital, and he would have to stay for a week after the dose to be monitored, then off for two weeks, then back in the hospital for another dose staying another week, then a month off. This treatment is the only "Curative" treatment that has been found sofar. All of the new medicines like Nexavar, Avastin, Sutent have had a few rare cases of curing the cancer, but Interleukin 2 has a lot more success. The only downside to the treatment is the side effects being severe and the hospital stays. I wish you luck and will keep your family in my prayers.
