Multiple Gastric Adenomatous Polyps

I have been trying to research online information regarding Multiple Pre-cancer Polyps that cannot be removed because my GI Doctor says there are "too" many. I understand, down the road, I can only look forward to either a gastrectomy and/or gastric cancer. My GI Doctor wants to repeat EGD in one year. I think 6 months. Here is my problem, I just had my Rt. lower lung removed for Bronchioloalveolarcarcinoma (11/05)..(never smoked a day). Had 3 months of Chemotherapy...and now these polyps show up... I would guess I am prone to carcinomas of sorts. Bad genes, my dad died of colorectal cancer 10 yrs ago. Trying to see if anyone out there experienced multiple gastric polyps or adenomas and what course of treatment did they take? ronna ^,,^

dear Ronna, have you had any problem with gastritis or ulcers? if so, ask your doctor to check a gastrin level to see if it is zollinger-ellison? if your polyps are hereditary, perhaps it is a type of FAP (familial adenomatous polyposis) and would respond to celebrex? [1] it would not hurt to get a second opinion from a gastroenterologist at hopkins, mayo, mass genl, etc. look at the list of top places for 2006 below [2] and pick the one nearest to where you are and go there. let us know what they tell you. i agree with your assessment of your situation. you are like a time bomb that could go off any time. -Best of Luck, -Amnia Link [1]: http://www.genetichealth.com/CRC_FAP_Celebrex_Reduces_Polyp_Formation_for_FAP_Patients.shtml Link [2]: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/best-hospitals/honorroll.htm disclaimer: http://www.cancercompass.com/common/disclaimer.html

Thank you so much for your information. I certainly will look into it.. I have been researching Gardner's Syndrome as well. And do want a second opinion as well. I appreciate your input again. :) Ronna ^,,^
