Steph,

Remind yourself that it's just at this point a maybe, and that even if it's for sure at some point, you can handle this.  You've already been through the ringer, and this too will pass.

Then get out there and enjoy that vacation.  I  hope you are going somewhere/doing something that can take your mind away from these thoughts.

Best of luck to you.

Susan

Diana,

Just this week I started taking meds for thyroid too.  My RO had told me to keep having it checked, but I'd hoped that it wouldn't go out on me until I could get rid of some other meds I'm taking for the throat dilations.

But no.  Now I have to get the pharmacist to help me recalibrate how and when to get everything down that they want me to.  What a sorry old pill-popper I've become!

My old desert buddy . . .

The good news is that you had the scan and possibly identified something suspicious. Did you have any symptoms that prompted the PET? Keep me in the loop about further diagnosis -- praying for your peace of mind and treatment. Why do our bodies betray us, just as we are ready to retire and play?? I am just over one year out of treatment and feeling human again, other than my strained voice and gulping water with every bite of food:(

Hope everything works out good for you Steph. My husband will have his third PET scan in September. He is three year out. He has been doing reall good, but he does not seem to gain any weight. Maybe it is the Salagan that he takes 3 times a day. It does make him sweat a lot. I am always worried about it might come back somewhere else. He had stage 4 throat cancer, and he never smoked a day in his life. He was sitting at work at his desk one day and turn his head and felt a tightness in his neck. Not really sure how long he had it. His Doctor visits have always been good, so just praying that the PET scan will be good too.

Prayers for you!

God's Blessings

Patty

Good news... Had an ultrasound and it was very unimpressive. My surgeon wasn't too concerned either. On my way to Mayo to see an endocrinologist this morning. He can handle my thyroid from now on.... He will compare my PET and my ultrasound and make a final determination. We are all pretty certain it's just thyroiditis. My surgeon says that as far as he is concerned... I'm done with any more testing and will see him in a year!! Yeah!! No more scans!! Vacation was great... Was actually able to put this from my mind!! Love to all Steph
