Looking For Help!

Any one who has or had esophagus cancer? Would love to hear from you. Could help in my upcoming operation. Thanks.

My father had surgery last week to remove his entire esophagus. They found the cancer had spread to the outer layer and into the lymph nodes in that area and surrounding tissue. No one has given a prognosis as of yet, but we understand this is very aggressive. Where was your tumor located and was your surgery similar? Please let me know what you have learned and what your follow up treatment has been. And, of course, how are you now?

I have a friend who had the same surgery about three years ago. At his best he can whisper, but there is no sign of cancer ever since. It was a hard journey, they will push you away, say hurtful things (they don't mean them, they just don't want you to be around to see how angry, hurt, in denial they are). I will pray for you all that you will have wonderful results as well. A whisper is better than a chalkboard, but a chalkboard is better than the alternative because at least they are still with you, which they will be!
