Hi Ellen,
Thanks for posting, I think of you often! I am glad you had a good MRI. Keep fighting and stay positive. My husband's CNS brain tumor has returned 3 times and each time they come up with a new plan that puts it back in remission. We joke he is on the 1 year maintenance plan (sometimes you just have to have a little humor in life), my point is that new trials are always coming out with new options. When I started here 5 years ago Temodar was new on the scene for brain tumor patients. People were just starting to mention Avastin, so don't give up hope. He just finished a new program that resulted from a Sloan-Kettering trial. He just finished a round of yucky in hopsital chemo and then had 13 low dose whole brain radiation treatments, followed up with outpatient Cytarabine for 2 months. He has 1 more dose of cytarabine next month. We always said No to the typical 33-46 treatments of whole brain radiation. At his age of 66, we were afraid of the debiltating side effects of Dementia. As hard as the chemo is on his system, quality of life for him was important. So we kept saying No to whole brain radiation and we opted for the chemo each time.
So don't think there aren't options out there, sometimes doctor's just have to get creative and from the sounds of it, your doctor is one on those.
Keep fighting back and I know you will. YOU have so much to live for. A family that loves you and needs you, and I need you. I look for your posts!
Take Care..
Peace to you and yours!
:)
