Cancer Doctors

I went to see my second Oncologist a couple of weeks ago. I only went back to get the results of the blood work he did. We could tell at my first visit that he did not seem to care. He would not give me a copy, but said he would mail me a copy and send my GP a copy. Seriously, after about 5 minutes, and not giving me any answers to my questions, he told me it was time for me to go. He said he had patients to see. Now he has changed his mind from Infection to Inflammation. I know for a fact that my GP asked him to do a bone marrow biopsy. Of course he would not do one, and said he did not to see me again. Still do not have any results back, me and my GP wants to see what to do next.

I'd go see another oncologist.

Is there a cancer support group that meets in your area perhaps at a hospital?  I'd attend a meeting there and ask a fellow survivor for a referral ~ someone is bound to have an oncologist they love who listens, respects, and updates their patient.

Good luck on that and take care.

I have seen a second Oncologist. He was worst than the first one. He treated me as though I wanted to have Cancer. He first agreed with the first one and said it was a Infection. Then he saw the Scan that ruled out Infection, and still agreed with the first one. He did his blood work, changed his mind to Inflammation. It has been over 3 weeks and my GP still does not have his report. We were waiting in it to see what to do next. At $649.00 office visit, you would think I could spend more than 10 minutes asking questions. He told me it was time for me to leave. I live in a town of 1,200 people. Not much going on here. My first one said that I refused a bone marrow biopsy although he tried everything to talk me into it. He was the one that refused to do it. I am suppose to see him in Nov. and I plan on telling him that I have changed my mind and now want the biopsy, just to see what he has to say. It will be recorded. It is legal to do so in TN. I am sick of doctors acting like God. I have a MD and a OD that says everything points to Leukemia. The first Oncologist said that I would have it in the future, the second says no way. When my GP gets the report and still wants a biopsy done, he can order it and the Insurance will pay. For some reason, he did not think that the Insurance would pay if he was the one that ordered it. He has sent me to two Oncologist and requested they do a biopsy and they both said no. In Nov. it will be a year since I first heard the word Cancer in tests that I had done at a very large Hospital 2 hours away. Thanks for the encouragement.

Well I finally got my report from the second Oncologist. It took a phone call and two trips to Knoxville before I got them. They claimed it was faxed to my GP, but he never got it. He said I was a very angry person. I was intense and I was confrontational. He can not tell the difference between frustration and anger.I went there for a second opinion, but all he did was look at the report from Dr. Lee and agreed with it. I asked him if he had bothered to look at the Scan I had done that ruled out infections. He was not aware of the Scan. I guess that was being confrontational. I asked him if he had even bothered to look at what my GP sent him. No answer. When I went back, two weeks later, he had his report and the results in his hand. I asked him for a copy because I was going to see my GP the next day. He refused and told me it was time for me to go. It took me four weeks to get that report. My WBC is going down, but he offered no reason what was wrong. In the report, he stated that he agreed with what Dr. Lee said was wrong. Once again, I had other tests besides the Scan since I had seen Dr. Lee. I do have the right to ask that mistakes in any medical record to be changed. Even if they refuse, they have to attach my letter explaining why I wanted changes made. I will see Dr. Lee on Nov. 15, just to confront him about the things he said in his report. He claimed he wanted to do a bone marrow biopsy done, but I refused. It was him that refused to do the biopsy after we asked him three times to do it. I am not going to put up with their lies any more. When I go back to see Dr. Lee, it will be recorded without his knowledge. I am going to start out by saying that I have changed my mind, and now wanted him to do the biopsy. In Dr. Lees final report, he states that I refused the biopsy, at least according to my wife. It is legal in TN. I will record every conversation from now on with all of my doctors, including my GP. The 2nd Oncologist states that further testing is not necessary.
