Hi, this is bride06, again, and I have written about my fathers rendez-vous with stage 2B pancreatic cancer. I am looking for advice, because I don't know what to make of this situation. My father is 61, a former runner, who currently is 5 mos. into his gemzar treatments, with 4 treatments left. He seems so strong sometimes, he works full time, and half the time, you wouldn't even know that 6 mos. ago, he had a Whipple! The problem is, he has such severe burning pain in his back, which he claims is close to the skin, and sensitive to the touch even. He says that hot showers help the pain, but not for long. His onc. says he needs to up the pain meds, when others say it is referred pain, which I am familiar with, but , I gues the question is, does anyone else have this burning pain? Please help...Thank you....

My Mother has stage IV Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. She refused the Whipple and all chemo/rad treatments and went an alternative route, which kept her in stage I for 9 mos...then got frustrated & went off everything for 3 months & rapidly declined.

Anyway, she has complained of this burning, stabbing back pain since her DX over 1 year ago - in ALL stages. She uses a heating pad, or sometimes puts topical Lidocaine on it to numb it out a little (she is now very thin). You might have him try BioFreeze as well. This is also a topical. Just an idea.

Mostly I just wanted to share that my Mom has the same complaint. If you hear of anything else that helps (besides the opioid drugs which she is on), I would appreciate knowing about it.
Thanks, Cara
