A month ago I was told, from a neck CT scan that I had a lung nodule. Contrast CT of chest done to follow up. Saw the doc 2 days ago and asked for copy of the reading radiologist's report. It reads (under Findings):
"...a 9mm nodule with well-defined margins seen at apex of right lung...not detectably calcified. It does not enhance...must be viewed as neoplasm until proven otherwise."
There are also 2 additonal nodules. A 4mm one in upper left lobe is defined. Third nodule is 8mm wide and 3mm in depth emanating from fissure in the lower right lung; also defined.
As a 40+ year smoker who has been experiencing shortness of breath with minimal exertion for two years now plus several months of increased coughing that sometimes feels as if my guts will come out before any kind of phlegm comes up and which frequently wakes me from sleep, I know it is cancer but I have a positive outlook ATM. Sometimes the phlegm is just a clear frothy looking matter; others times, it produces more regular looking phlegm but visual evidence of blood is not present in it.
Any ideas on which of the broad categories of lung cancer that this might likely be? I'm following the reading radiologist's suggestion for an immediate CT guided, through the skin, needle biopsy. That is scheduled for Dec. 6th.
