PLEASE!!! HELP ME

My brother has 43 years old and last month he was diagnostic GBM. A one month ago exactly he made a surgery and the doctor said that was remove everything. Yesterday he started radio+temodal and today he's very sick.... Searching in Internet I knew that treatment CPTIII + avastin. Wich one is better for this kind of tumor??? We have a very good doctor in my country, but I know that you should have more information than me. I read about the melatonin and others supplements but I don't know anything about that and ours doctor are totally against it.... What do you think about that? I'm sorry to hear about your brother's GBM. My sister also has GBM, was diagnosed two years ago. Temodal and radiation is the best known treatment at this time. Your brother is probably sick from the Temodal. Make sure he doesn't eat two hours before taking it and one hour after. Also, ask your doctor for an anti-nausea drug he can take about an hour before the Temodar. He should tolerate the Temodal better as time goes on. About the suppplements, our doctor is in favor of them and my sister takes quite a few, including melatonin. But she wasn't allowed to take any during the radiation. If your doctors don't favor supplements and your brother does, he might want to consider changing doctors (after the radiation)

Thanks a lot for your words and I also so sorry for your sister!! We have to keep in faith and fight!! About melatonin is not allowed in my country, maybe I' ll have to bye there and bring it here!! Craniotomy, radiation for 6 weeks, temodar 13-14 months, avastin + irinotecan(CPT11) 6 months, avastin alone for the last 5 months and I am alive. My NO(Neuro oncologist) supports(until now) homeopathic treatments. This is going on in the USA.  I add,Guanabana(graviola), blue scorpion venom and a lot of support from family and friends helps me a lot.

Fabiana, thanks for your good wishes. The main things she takes are vitamin C, flax seed oil (fish oil would do instead but she is allergic to fish), selenium, turmeric, and PSK (turkeytail mushrooms). She didn't take any of this during radiation because the radiation oncologist didn't approve.

My Husband is interested in Scorpion Venom.   Would love more infor about it..

 

Avastin with cpt-11 is a joke... the cpt 11 only makes yoy even more sick... yes, i have taken this... and had too "hug the toilett way too often)   MY Neurologist told mt that the cpt-11 does nothing for the cancer...  I have stage 4 GBM and have been fighting this for the last 6 and a half years.... please read my profile, hope this helps...

Avastin is a life saver.  My husband has been on it for 8 months along with temador and no regrowth and very minimal side effects.

I just wanted to tell you to ask the Doctor if they can prescribe Zofran for the nauseau if that is what your brother is complaining about.  My hubby is 73 & has stage IV Glibo, tumor removed in May and did the rounds of radiation and oral chemo Temodar.  Here is what I do to combat the upset stomach and it works.  The day before chemo I start this Zofran twice a day and even on the last day (day 6) of Temodar and he has never felt sick to his stomach not once. Realizing everyone is different but it does the trick for us. As far as supplements we use Vitamin C, B12 and a good multi vitamin.

Temodar and radiation is usually the first treatment, CPT-11 and Avastin is second. Which one is better depends on the individual. I have been through both. The second had a little side effects I had to deal with but that's because IV drugs are harder on the system than the oral Temodar is on most people. Fabiana, GBM's are aggressive and bad. My first surgery (removed 100%) was 03/31/2012. I had recurrance and second surgery 09/24/2012. On 12/07 I had an MRI after doing 8 weeks of Avastin/CPT-11. The scans showed NO recurrance in the original site but now I have 4 new "suspicious" spots in 3 different locations of my brain so I have a biopsy surgery scheduled for 01/07/2013. I'm sorry if my frankness scares you. Just know this can be different between people. I have 4 Facebook friends with GBM's and they are long term survivors of between 10-19 years. They aren't doing anything unusual or different from what I've mentioned. In fact the lady with 19 years only did initial radiation but NO CHEMO! I can say the common practice with all of these people and myself included is a very strong faith in almighty God, Jesus Christ. God bless you and your brother.
