It was more than 80 percent correct in spotting cancerous nodules, but accuracy still needs improving

I was diagnosed in July 2012 and began oral chemo in Aug.
(xeloda and temodar). The first scan in Oct.2012 looked good, but the Jan. 2013 scan showed the tumors in my liver
that had been reduced were back. The Dr. changed me to Infinitor, which I will start later this week. Does anyone have experience with this drug?

I have not heard of this drug. When the cancer spread to my mom's liver she started 5-FU and from what I have read from everyone else here almost everyone who has metasized to the liver is given 5-FU. Have you asked your doctor about infintor and the side-efffects. you might want to ask him about 5-FU the next time you see him.

I am taking AFINITOR. Maybe is the same medication. I have pancreatic cancer metasted to the liver. It is one of the most rare type of NEOENDOCRINE cancer, caled GLUCAGONOMA. I was on 5-FU and couple of other chemos before. I have been in AFINITOR since October 2011. I am taking 10mg a day. I am symptomless. I know a person, whom is on the same medication, who couldn't handle 10mg there were too many side effect. He is on 5mg. I am doing fine, and the tumors are shrinking. Thanks God!
May God Bless you,

Thanks for the info. I feel better about taking it. This is my second day and so far it's fine. Mine is neuroendocrine. The Dr. started me on 5mg and will do a blood test in 21/2 weeks. Did the Afinitor shrink your tumors? It was upsetting when the Oct. 2012 scans showed a nice improvement, but then the Jan. 2013 scan showed the tumors were larger than in Oct. 2012.

Hang on there! The tumors in my liver are shrinking little bit at the time. It is very slow growing, so it shrinks very slow also. I am living with this for 21 years now. So it is very uplifting. I had a surgery in 1999, when it was only on my pancreas. By 2005 it had metastassed to the liver. Then I had 21 month of chemo. It shrank 2/3 of the tumors, then they went dormant for two years. It was in 2011, when they woke up and decided to grow again. Then is when my doctor decided to put me on AFINITOR or (EVEROLIMUS).
May God be with you,
