Does anyone have any suggestions to lower the biliruben number? I realize my husband's liver is failing, but if I could just get that number lower, he may be eligible for some clinical trials.

He needs to change his diet, carrot and apple juice, Beets with apple is good too. got to be fresh juice, can not buy from market. many doctors said he can eat anything. that is wrong, at this point the easy the meal to digest the better his body will be. how high is his billruben number?

Hello Colbert,

My mother had to have a drain put in to get her level down. It is called a biliary drain that is for if the bile duct is blocked.

Why hasn't anybody suggested that????? If his biliruben wasn't so high, he would qualify for some other procedures!

I am not sure why that has not been suggested but it was the only option for my mama. You could ask the dr. It does help although it is permanent but it helps.

Yes the drain my mama had was permanent and it had a bag so it would drain. It had to be drained each day sometimes more than once a day. But it helps so I guess it was a good thing.
