Having been told that my cancer was on the bile duct and causing jaundice they put in a stent to free the bile duct but that went septic and i nearly died so i was on antibiotics to get me healthy so i could start chemo,so i started searching the internet and found a new procedure called S I R T.s it has good reports of success so i now have had the procedure and next month i will have ascan to see how much the cancer has shrunk.anothe r name for this treatment is Sirtek

It has no after affects like chemo andis a once only procedure it involves inserting a small rod into the artery feeding the cancer which dissolves into millions of tiny radium beads to attack the cancer

I hope this info helps save a life

Hope the SIRT procedure went well. My father is seeking new treatments as a last resort. Would you generally recommend this procedure? Be Well, Frank

Good Luck with this procedure.  My husband  has also had this one but unforturnely it did not work for him but I have notice everyone is different.  My prayers are with you.  My husband has been offered TIPS to help with the fluid build up but the trade off is confussion more then normal.

My 78 year old mom has liver cancer and it has spread to the biliary system. She has metal stents put in and just recently was hospitalized for blockage and infection (puss in bile duct). Regarding the SIRT treatment, doesn't your bilirubin levels need to be back to normal or somewhat normal before any treatment can be performed?
