hi,

When I was 41 years old, I noticed blood in my urine. I went to the doctor and they put me on 2 rounds of antibiotics. since I was still seeing blood, they sent me to a uroligist who ordered test. the test showed I had stage 4 kidney cancer. I never exprienced any pain or anything, only the blood in my urine. I had my kidney removed in oct. 2003, I have had many surgeries and many treatments, but I am still here. Make sure to be persistant, and always get 2nd opionions.

You are never too young. Children get cancer if you are thinking of that. Get checked out asap and put your mind at rest. The other woman is right. If you delay and it is cancer, it may spread. Coming from a 25 yr survivor of a very rare gyn cancer. Do not be afraid. Once you find out what it is, and it may be nothing, you will feel better about it. Don't you want to know what is causing the pain and take care of it?

Hi

Dont worry I had the same problem. it was hematuria which is blood in the urine, the only reason he wants you to have cystocopy and ct scan is just for precaution. alot of times there is blood in your urine and that is normal. dont worry eveything will be fine

I had blood in my urine when I was 44. Same reactions from Dr. Infection, treated 4 times...no infection, when I went to my regular GP he had scans and a urologist do a cystoscopy and I had bladder cancer! Fortunately they were able to scrape the tumor out and I was given BCG treatments after, once a week for 6 weeks. Then once every 6 months for the following 9 years. No reoccurence. BUT in 2004 I was dx with lung cancer (non smoker). Surgery, then chemo, 4 rounds. Three months later the tumors were in both lungs. I was on Tarceva for 17 months and in July this year they found the tumors again! They had mutated. Surgery for a biopsy again to confirm it was cancer. I am now waiting for a phase 1 trial to begin at Mayo. They say the two cancers are not related. Guess I'm just one of the lucky ones to get cancer twice. Wouldn't once have been enough? I wish you luck and oray you will have a good report.

Hi, I had several bouts of hemmorrhagic cystis in my early 50's and when young, a few bladder infections but at 57 I contracted an intestinal infection from a patient of mine. When I arrived at the hospital I was almost dead but during the course of my stay they discovered I had renal cell carcinoma of the left kidney.I went home and recuperated and two months later had it removed. What a blessing that intestinal infection was for me.The cancer was in an early stage and they are not usually diagnosed until later stages. Please do not hesitate go at once and have any and every test available to you.No one is exempt from this disease and the sooner the diagnosis the better the prognosis.Bless you and keep us informed, Jean

I was first diagnosed when I was 41 years old. I had the tumor removed and had no treatments. I stayed cancer-free for ten years. In 2004 they found another tumer which they once again removed and then set me up for the BCG treatments. At my two-year mark this year, cancer cells were found in my urine, and I had surgery almost two weeks ago. No cancer was found so they did a biopsy on my bladder and kidneys . . . my results were negative. The chance of a false positive is slim, but I had it. I worry every day that it will return.
