Hello. I am wondering if anyone else has had the experience of a negative sentinal node biopsy but a + PCR test? I had the PCR as part of a clinical trial. To be as aggressive as possible, I had lymph nodes removed from my left groin (melanoma was on my left buttock) and am now doing the one year course of interferon. abbie

This test is being used to detect melanoma cells which otherwise would be undetectable. There is a strong relationship between this test being positive and relapsed desease even if the sentinal LN was negative. There is some debate what impact this test has on overall survival, but I think its a great tool. I would say you are doing the right things.
