Subject: Mazzy Husband Taken Off Sutent For a Bit.

Hi Guys just letting you know they stopped the sutent for Joe. He had blood on Monday and his creatine was up high enough they decided to stop it until they get it down. He was on day 20 rats. They did an ultra sound today to check the kidney and it is fine. They also took blood so they will check the creatine but don't suspect it would have come down since Monday. So now he will have to wait till next Wednesday when he sees the Oncologist and to see what the blood test says. He was still on 50mgs. Discouraging but not without hope it will be started back up soon. Better to be safe than sorry. Talk to you soon Mazzy
Subject: Mazzy Husband Taken Off Sutent--reply From Bunker

Hi Mary. Off temporarily----not necessarily what you wanted but remember it's a journey. I've also been holding back a bit of experience just for this occasion. During my first two treatment cycles (both at the 50mg/d levels) I interrupted my treatments for 3 and 4 days respectively. My reason was a bit different than Joe's as I reacted severely to the medication and my doctor wanted to see if it was Sutent or the flu. Point is, a short interruption to Sutent didn't seem to effect my results negatively. In fact, the impact to my tumor during my 1st two treatments was nothing short of amazing. My thought would be to stay focused on getting back on Sutent and work on getting Joe's creatine back in line. Sometimes, even a mild dehydration can cause creatine to spike so best to drink a lot of fluids, especially that fine Canadian water. See you later and tell Joe HI.

Thanks Bunker (Greg nice to know who you really are LOL) you are always there for us. Yes we are being positive and hope by next week we will know what is happening. Joe's blood pressure spiked when he started sutent so they put him on a BP medication and from what I found out today that could even be a problem so we will give them time to figure it all out. It may just be an adjustment of sutent to the next lower dose. I only posted this message for a couple of reasons. One to see if others may have come up against this (thank you for your reply) and two to let people know of little things that can pop up from time to time. Joe is feeling amazing (just minor stuff)and he is looking forward to starting up again. Trust me the day they say go back on it I will start a new conversation LOL. You are a great help and comfort. Thanks again and talk to you soon. Mary

Tell Joe not to feel too bad about having to stop the drug early...the doctor told me they are very particular about blood counts and not to take it if everything is not at the correct levels. He did endure three weeks though without and harsh side effects, so hopefully everything will be fine with a couple of weeks for him to begin again. Stay positive and remember we are a team. I've been back to work so don't get to check in as often. That's why I'm late in replying. I have one more week to go and then a C-scan next Friday. Well keep you posted.

Ha Willard great news for you. Let me know how the CT scan goes. You will be in our prayers. Joe is staying positive and see his Oncologist on Wednesday so they will decide then what to do. I am sure they will go again and I think they will reduce the strength. I spoke briefly with his Urologist (I work with him) and he said just what you said about the blood levels. He thinks they will reduce the dosage and that may make it easier on the kidney. Thanks so much for replying. WooHoo you are back working. That must make you feel better however don't overdo it. I am really happy for you. Now take care of yourself and let us know how things go. I read your messages to Joe as he will not try the computer at all (wish he would)and he asks if I hear from you. Must stick together us Canadians!! Talk to you soon Mary

Glad to hear from you and Joe. I have four days left with cycle two and this time around it's been pretty good. I've had a few stomach pains but nothing serious and much better than my first round. I'm waiting to win the lottery so I can retire...if i do, I'll take care of you both as well. Hope Joe gets everything ok'd on his next blood test and he can once again begin the Sutent. I haven't heard from Bunker lately, guess he's busy checking out the other sites and giving inspiration to others, as he has done for me in the past. Good to have everyone here to correspond with. Take care now.
