Non-drying face wash (no soap.)Good moisturizer and keep it on all the time. You might ask your doc about OTC Benedryl tablets or tetracycline.
I take the latter.
See this page for one person's regime: http://www.practicaltruisms.com/GoodSkin.html

I have been on Tarceva for going on 6 months. The rash sucks...but the Tarceva has been working for me (knock on wood and thank the Lord). This is where I am now. Your skin (all over not just your face)is now or will soon become very dry...a desert. I shower with a body wash with shea butter in it. Wash off...turn the shower water off and liberally put the shea butter body wash on. Let is set for a few. Us Georgia rednecks would say "don't mess with it atall". Put it all over including your scalp. Don't use your skin drying shampoo on your scalp. This will become your new shampoo. When you dry off apply a light coat of baby oil on your skin. I have found the baby oil gel works really well. I also apply it to my face. I have been using this regime for about two months now. My rash looks like a bad sunburn or windburn. The oil will keep the itching down and last longer than any creams I have tried.

These are things I have tried and some worked but not as well as he baby gel.
* Aloe gel-good but not long lasting.
* Some cream my Sis in law sent from France
* Some cream she sent from Germany
* That vasaline stuff you use on a sunburn. The white kind about $5 in a big pump bottle.
* Cindamiacin topical and oral.
* Oral tetracycline
* All the creams and moisturisers in my wifes heavy arsenal. She really loves putting all that stuff on me.
* Head and Shoulders or Selsin Blue. I heard how good this stuff was...tried it for a week. I will burn the heck out of you. Stay far far away from this.
* I have a 14 year old...stay far away from clearasil and that other acne stuff...it quadruples the problem.

I'm a guy who loves the outdoors and golfing...but wear a big hat and watch the UV.

I have been to that website above and it looks really appealing. I don't care so much how I look (up to a point) but how i feel. I don't think I could do all that moisturising. Oh before I forget...use one of those nylon loofas in the shower to knock off the dead dry skin. Just pour a bunch on the loofa and scrub and let it stay on for at least a minute or two.

Hope this helps all afflicted with Cancer and taking Tarceva or their loved ones.
God Bless.

I know I'm posting to an older message, but I wanted to let you know what we found effective in countering the side effects of Tarceva for my mother. She has been on it for 6 months for pancreatic cancer and in that time through research we found that LindiSkin was the best product to help with the dry skin.  According to the website it was formulated specifically for people taking Tarceva. I e-mailed with one of the people at Lindiskin and they said the manufacturers of Tarceva are actually buying starter kits that oncologists are supposed to give to patients starting on it.  Unfortunately, I don't know where these kits are, but my mom didn't get one.  She uses the body wash, and body lotion, and the face wash. It's amazing how much it improved her skin. We think if she could have been using it from the beginning her skin never would have gotten so dry that it actually hurt to move. Online at www.lindiskin.com

 For teh dry mouth we found Biotene mouthwash (can get from Walmart). It doesn't taste good, but after a while she got used to it and now can't do without it.

If you get the little splits on the ends of your fingers, then there is Bag Balm that can be purchased at Walmart in either the pet area or pharmacy area - comes in a green square tin. We found it best for keeping the skin on the tips of the fingers moisturized. Plus it has an antispetic in it which helps the splits.

 Hope this helps anyone who might be taking Tarceva.
