To Bunker, willard,Mazzy,Lissa and everyone else My husband has rcc mets to lungs and bones. Found out 12/04 He is now 59 yrs. Had lung surgery to remove tumor.Thats how they found out that it was rcc. This was done in Jan.05. Had left kidney removed in April 05. Broke left femur bone from just walking-did scan and found out he had cancer in bones-spine,hip,ribs and leg.Surgery on July 05 Had rod put in. Started him on Avastin/tarceva which helped reduce lung tumors for 6 months, but it started to progress again. They put him on zometa also for his bones.Next was nexevar for 3 months but the cancer still progressed. They started him on Sutent and on Dec. 13 we will have the results.I have been reading cancercompass for a long time and also tried to put as message in but I failed. I haven't used a computer but when my husband got sick I plunged in. It looks like we are all waiting for the first results of Sutent and Willard - fantastic! Bunker - thanks for all your support to all of us.You have given my husband hope along with many others.I take care of my husband as your wife does you,Bunker. My husband uses a walker and is able to get around-he's strong willed. Has gone though the side affects sore mouth, salty tastes but sweets -loves them. Oh, he also had mouth surgery to remove all of his teeth before he went on zometa, but was taken off 6 months afterwards because of exposed bone on jaw not healing. All of you take care and be strong.Any questions -feel free to ask. I'm on maybe 2 times a week. Essiac

Your husband had certainly gone through quite alot with cancer and I congratulate him for all he has endured. Tell him not to give up hope as they are always offering something new to those affected. I was sent home end of April this year and only given three months to live. They could not give me any chemo or radiation. In August my scan showed an even bigger increase in my tumors and than in September, Sutent came my way....it is truly doing wonders for me. My scan this week after only two cycles of this drug has shown no increases and also a decrease in my cancer in the adrenal gland. Miracles do happen so tell your husband to keep the faith...keep stroung..and above all, keep a positive attitude, which I personally know at times it's very difficult to do. We are all a very caring "family" here on this website and always here to lend support, answer questions and just send encouragement your way. Keep in touch!

Hi Marjorie glad you dropped by. You husband sounds like a real trouper and he deserves so much credit for forging ahead and staying positive. You sound like a wonderful caregiver and I am sure you are a tower of strength to him. My husband had his kidney out in 99 (they found a tumor the size of a grapefruit) He was clear till June of 2002 when it came back in his lung and duodeum. He was on intron A for 3 1/2 years and after that 8 months on nothing. He tried nexavar 5 months ago and lasted on that 1 month but had extremely bad side effect and was taken off. He is on cycle 2 of sutent. First cycle 3 weeks on then taken off 3 weeks because of elevated blood levels but restarted sutent on the 28th of Nov so we are hopeful of the results. This message board is amazing and the sharing of ideas and suggestions has provided so many people with information. Stay in touch and keep us posted. Mazzy
