Subject: lung cancer that spread to the brain

My mom was diagnoised w/lung cancer about a yr ago. She recently had an episode and was put in the hospital. We thought the chemo was working, but they ran a CT and MRI and her cancer has spread to her other lung and to her brain. I just really don't know what to think. I am in just a bad place right now. Has anyone went through or are going through this that could tell me what has happened w/you. They said w/chemo she has 6 months and w/out maybe 3 months....Can this be beat? We asked the doctors what they would do if it was there mother, and he said he would let her go.....I am so full of grief....I am so close to her...she is 63 and I am 35...I already feel so lost. She is taking radiation for her brain tumor....and uncertain about chemo...someone please write me and tell me what you did....or what can be done.

I am so sorry anyone has to deal with this cancer. I don't have anything to help you at the moment but your story almost mirrors mine. My mother has stage 4 lung cancer and today we have just found out that it has spread to her brain. I have been living with her for the past 14 months helping her out and I am right where you are in the grief department. I will try to keep you posted on our next plan of attack. Maybe you can compare it to your mothers treatment. We live out in Washington state and Southwest Washington Medical Center, I heard was one of the top 10 cancer treatment places. My mother has also visited Tulsa's Cancer Treatment Centers of America. We haven't ruled out another trip there. She has appointments tomorrow to find out and if your interested I can let you know what they suggest. My email address is
