hard lump above collar bone with swelling around it

I have had a hard lump above my collar bone about the size of a olive on the left side of my neck with swelling around it I have had it for about a year, I have not taken much noitce of it but every so often I would notice it, but recently i have been getting pain from that side of my neck and along my shoulder, so i went to my Gp, He is sending me for a ultrasound, I have read all sorts, about  lumps on the neck and cancer. and that you do not get pain will cancer, and you loose weight,

So i have the pain, and have not lost any weight but the c word is still on my mind has anybody else,got the same problem

Just the other week I found I have something that sounds exactly like what you have... have you found out anything further?

I don't have any pain though and there isn't much swelling.

I am booked in for a checkup this week to see what it might be. 

 

hi, i have somewhat the same dilemma though the lump i have is on the lower right leg. i didn't pay much attention on it since i thought i just bumped it but recently it's been painful and there's swelling around the lump.. i'm scheduled to a check-up this month, maybe this is just nothing...i'm keeping my fingers crossed :).. hopefully it's just nothing... i'll post my doctor's advice here after my check up maybe it'll help. I've been getting aches around clavicle/collar bone area and when I looked more closely, I noticed a small lump above my right collar bone (not far from shoulder area).  There is also some swelling further along the collarbone towards centre of my chest.  However, I'm worried about the lump.  Have been told it may just be bone re-moulding or even an infection, but of course it may be cancer.  My right collar bone juts out more than my left too, and I've been getting pains in right arm.  I've been referred to an orthopaedic specialist and will probably have to go for scans/ultrasound.  I just wished I knew for definite one way or the other - it's horible waiting.  I'm so scared and I have two young children. I've found out from the internet that a PET scan is a good one to have as it relies on the physiology of cancer as opposed to a bone scan/ CT scan that relies on  the anatomy of cancer. Would be grateful to hear from anyone with similar problems/ knowledge of this area.

I just lost a close relative to cancer so it scares the hell out of me. I am recently out of college working a part time job with no benefits so of course a trip to the doctor will break me. Any help or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. God Bless.

Like the rest of you I have a swelling on the right colar bone. X-ray 2 weeks ago showed nothing now I have CT scan scheduled for this Friday. This did not stop me from doing further research and the following link describes exactly what I have and treatment. Makes me feel much better and I'm printing the information to take to my Doctor. Wow- what an old post.

I actually had this happen to me; my dad was doing treatment so it was 2005- turned out to be nothing- & it went away as quick as it came. Wish I could remember what the Dr called it; it's been so long ago; I totally forgot about it.

Mine was not a lipoma; I have enough lipomas to know the difference. Mine felt like the bone decided to grow.
