Pain After Stent Being Put In

My husband had a stent put in about 3 weeks ago. Since being home from the hospital, he has been in great pain. The pain is in his chest in the area of where the stent is. Every 1/2 hour, he gets this "flash" of unbearable pain. Does anyone know anything about this? Is this going to go away? I am tired of the docs answers about what should happen, what may happen - I would like to know what he actually going through and how long this may last. I know everyone is different, but, "been there, done that" is much more reassuring. Thanks to all.

my mother had the same pain.  turns out the tumor ruptured when they put the stent in and everything was going into the chest cavity.  Another 48 hours and she wouldn't be here.  it's been a long road.  insist that the doctor perform additional tests.
