My mother was diagnosed with colon cancer Decemeber 5th.  She had the tumor removed on the 6th and is already back home resting.  It looks promising that she wont have go to through anymore treatment.  The problem I am having is in reguards to my father.  Several people have told me that men just dont know how to deal with an event like this, but hes not giving her the emotional support she needs.  I am trying to make up for it but its starting to affect my mother.  He has an issue with the medication shes on for pain.  He doenst listen to her because he said shes "doped up".  He also just told her he doesnt know what shes talking about because the medication has fried her brain.  My parents have been married for 30+ years, and this behavior is very unexpected.  Obviously we need to sit down with someone to talk about whats going on- but does anyone have a similar experience or advice?

everyone has different ways of dealing,  your dad may be feeling scared, hurt,  unsure of the future, etc.   Have a clergy, or one of his close friends talk to him,  it might help to know his friends are there to listen to any fears he may be experiencing,

Best wishes and God Bless
